firefighter
I'm pretty sure that the first rut is gone and over with. But is there a 2nd rut? Is there a place online that can shed some insight on this topic? I have seen some fresh rubs and scrapes in areas where there hasnt been any before....... buckee
Re: Maryland rut ?????? The secondary rut, is sometimes refered to as the 2nd or even 3rd rut by some. All it is really is the bucks are still seeking out late oestrus does, after the frantic main rut has faded. This happenes everywhere there is deer and can last well into the New Year in some locations.

Guest deadeye270
Re: Maryland rut ?????? there is typically a second rut about 28 days later than the peak of the first. This is for all the does who didn't get bred the first time around, you'll also get some yearlings that get bred during this time period as well. wtnhunt
Re: Maryland rut ?????? The secondary rut will have the bucks looking for does that did not get bred the first time around and for the younger does that might just be coming in. The secondary rut here should be kicking in this next week.
