It does not matter if I am cleaning from the muzzle on a pump or semi auto, or if I am cleaning from the breech (preferred) on a bolt or singleshot, I always use a bore guide. It has the solvent/oil port built in so you don't have to touch the oil or solvent. Like AJ, I would not clean my rifles without one.
