Scouting gone bad?

Born2Hunt and I are just getting into coyote hunting. So when B2H came to me at work today and reminded me it was the first Wed. of the month I got a little excited. Each 1 st. Wed of the mo. our county has a siren test of all the fire dept. sirens. Around 60 plus depts. When these sirens go off we always hear coyotes howl at the top of their lungs. We decided it would be a great time to locate some dogs.

Just before 7:00 pm I called B2H to remind him. He was ready! At 7 the county dispatch set off all the sirens in the county at once. Just before the sirens went off I heard a truck with tires noiseyer than a B-52 coming up my road. Needless to say I never heard the sirens or any dogs! Disappointed, I went into the house and called B2H to see how he had done. He was mad. " A truck came up the hill so loud I couldn't hear a thing." He lives on the top of a long hill so the 18 wheelers sometimes are really getting it on to top the hill.

We decided to wait for each Dept. individual test. Normally about 15 minutes. So doesn't a dept. have a call and the tests were suspended for an hour until all trucks returned to station. When the neighboring depts had their sirens set off I stood like a Cigar store Indian in my front yard listening. Didn't hear a thing. With the full moon and all I couldn't believe our little plan didn't work.

Oh well, we'll try again next month.LOL!! grin.gif
