007hunter Posted January 8, 2007 Report Share Posted January 8, 2007 I just got back from small game hunting at SGL 247 and what I saw disgusted me. At the parking area there were 4 deer just thrown to the side in a gulley. Two of them were bucks, one was missing the head and the other had its antlers cut off. The other two were does. Not really much they can do like you said so not sure if its really worth calling. Down at my uncles place at the start of the road there were some deer carcasses just thrown over the road but they had been skinned out for the most part and the horns were still on em. It appears that you just have some dumb people out shooting what ever moves. Makes you wonder why they shot the does and recovered them if they were not going to keep them? I know a few years back we were out spotting and found about 6 deer lying along a dirt road on State game lands. Contacted the PGC and was told that they knew about it...thats were the road clean up crew was told to dump them. This could very well be the same case...someone sees a nice buck dead along the road...they stop and take the head and/or antlers then the clean up crew comes along later and picks them up...guess they got to dump them somewhere. Its always distrubing to hear about such events...One because of the waste of deer meat that could have gone to feed hungry people, I as well give alot of meat away to older hunters who cant get out anymore and people i know will eat and enjoy it. Two alot of the non-hunting public also associate this sort of behavior as common or normal for "hunters". Shame that hunters and sportsman carry such a loose interpretation as to include the idiots in the field along with responsible outdoorsmen and women.
