This is an option that can be changed usually with function keys. It is set to reduce the brightness in an effort to extend the amount of time you can work on battery power.

The F1 key has a pic of a light bulb on it, I assume that's the one I want, but pressing it opens a Mozilla Help page.

Re: Another computer question

Go here on your computer:

START > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options

You might have a tab in there that will let you adjust the brightness of the screen when on Battery power to what you want. Expect the battery to run out a bit quicker as you increase the brightness. Monitors are power hogs.

Re: Another computer question

Okay that is where my laptops have always had their power options for me to customize was a tab in there. I was hoping yours was as easy. Every laptop is slightly different, though. Next step would be to look in the laptop manual or contact the manufacturer of your laptop to find out what combination of keys or software tool they installed can modify how the screen dims in Battery Mode. Mine was just an additional tab in the power options section that I could click to expand outward. Some computers you have to hit certain keys in a certain order to bring it up or they install software that you access to do so. It's a toss up what way your manufacturer went. If you give me the name and model of your laptop I can try to look it up for you online to save you some trouble. smile.gif

Re: Another computer question

There should be 2 keys on top of each other with the regular function on them but they'll also have, in another color a lightbulb and an arrow up and a lightbulb with a down arrow. There should also be another key probably in the lower left corner called FN or something. Hold that in and press the lightbulb up button. That's how mine works. Same with the volume control.
