Couple Computer Questions

Okay I know there's a easy solution to this first question, but I can't seem to find it.

When you put a CD into the computer it won't pop up to install or anything, you have to click run, etc. It used to pop up now it doesn't, What do I click to get it back to popping up?

Second,

On an older computer someone else hooked up for us, I don't think they knew what they were doing, tongue.gif , but any how it says you must Activate Windows Online, that computer doesn't have the Internet, and it says it won't function until it's activated. Any way around that? wink.gif

Thanks for any help!

Laura

Re: Couple Computer Questions

CDs will not autorun in XP and 2000 if you are not logged on as an Administrator or Power User. Are you logging in as either of the two? What version of Windows is it?

Windows activation is Microsoft's way of preventing piracy. You can activate it over the phone if you have no internet connection. To activate Windows XP over the telephone, you can simply call a toll-free* number displayed on your screen. A customer service representative will ask for the installation ID number displayed on the same screen, enter that number into a secure database, and return a confirmation ID to you. Once you have typed the confirmation ID, the activation process is complete.

Re: Couple Computer Questions

Right-click on the drive icon for your CD drive, CD recorder, or DVD drive, and select Properties.

Choose the AutoPlay tab, and choose the desired action for each type of CD.

You can also edit the registry to enable autorun, but that is a little more complicated.

Go to Google and search for "CD will not autorun."
