OJR
For those of you who have PayPal or eBay accounts, I would suggest that you change your password at least every 3 months! I just hit through PayPal and somehow they got to my credit card and charged $2,000.00 to it. Then last night after midnight, they got to my checking and savings account! Cleaned out the checking account and took some from savings! I was able to get the credit card corrected and cancelled. They are going to issue me a new one. As to the checking account and savings account, PayPal is going to reimburse me, but it might take up to 10 days! Real nice people out there!! AdvantageTimberLou
Re: FYI I got an email in a hotmail account saying something was wrong with my paypal account. I never opened that email and deleted it because I don't have paypal, I don't deal on Ebay so I knew it was some scam. How can I have a problem with Paypal when I never set up an account? All types of scammers out there trying to take advantage of people. The internet makes it too easy for these low lifes!!!

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: FYI Did you disclose your Paypal username and password to anyone else? Or did you get one of those fake emails from someone pretending to be Paypal and go in and "update" your user info? I have not heard of Paypal's site being hacked and any passwords being compromised. If it had, that would have been BIG news in the IT industry. You should also do an extremely thorough check of your PC for any spyware, malware, keyloggers, trojans, etc. It's possible that you've got what we loosely call "cooties" and someone is stealing your ID straight from your computer. If so, you'll probably get hit again in a couple of days or weeks.

OJR
Re: FYI I have not answered any phony email and have checked my computer and there is nothing wrong on this end! Somehow, they got into my PayPal account and into the checking and savings account! PayPal has been great to work with, so far!! They found my current account from an account at a different bank that was closed in '05 and were somehow, able to get into my new account that way! I don't understand how they did it! I will keep you posted as to what is happening.
Guest Sureshot_10
Re: FYI Sorry to hear about that, and that is one reason i do not have a credit card. I can not see the reason in ruining someones life just because one is to lazy to go out and work for it themselves.
wtnhunt
Re: FYI Thanks for the heads up Orlan. Too bad that happened, a shame there are so many crooks out there. Really am wondering how they got into your bank accounts. Would be a bit more concerned here that someone has stolen your identity and has your social. [/ QUOTE ] I had that happen a few years ago with the identity bit! No, this came directly from and through PayPal! It even showed up in the checkbook that it was a withdrawl from PayPal!! I would just love to have a face-to-face meeting with these people for about 20 minutes! I really don't know what I would do with the extra 19!! wtnhunt
Re: FYI Dont understand how they could have gotten into your checking through paypal unless you had your paypal account secured with your checking. I know I have gotten emails saying I can secure my account with my checking, I always delete them. One credit card is all I will use for anything online or paypal. MCH
Re: FYI If you haven't answered any of those phony Paypal e-mails, then I'm guessing someone put a keystroke program on your computer and caught you logging into Paypal. Or if you store your passwords through Internet Explorer they could have extracted them that way.
OJR
Re: FYI I don't store passwords with IE! PayPal right now doesn't understand how they got this info but is working on it! They have been great to work with and I think the reason is that there is some kind of security breech that they did not know of! Time will tell!
