NYBUCK
Stopped at a gun shop while I was at my daughters college watching her play some basketball and picked up a savage bolt action .243. It is used but hasn't been shot that much at all. I paid $289 and he threw in a box of ammo. What grain do you suggest for yotes? wtnhunt
Re: Got a .243 The wife and my daughter both use 100 grain core lokts for deer in their .243's. The wife shoots a savage model 10, the 100 grain core lokts really shoot well from that gun. Tried a box of winchester 80 grain varmint rounds, they did not group quite as well from her gun. Unless you are out to save the fur, would think the 100 grainers would do fine.
M00N
Re: Got a .243 I suggest 55-grain or 70-grain Nosler Ballistic Tips if you want to keep the pelt damage minimal, but still have enough killing power at a reasonable range. If you don't care about pelt damage and looking more to just manage your predator populations and want more knock down power try a larger grain such as 80-grain to 100-grain. The Nosler Ballistic Tips I find tend to cut the wind a bit better than other types, but that's just my opinion.
