Manufacturing Colaberators... Chevy and Toyota Dodge and Mitsubishi Ford and Mitsubishi and even (Subaru) These Manufacturers have been known to work together on manufacturing technologies .. Especially Chevy and Toyota. You might want to look under the hood of your vehicle and make some comparisons... I feel if it has a motor and 4 wheels it's intitled to compete.... hence racing.. slugshooter
Re: The Great AMERICAN Race? If they can make Toyota's in America, and make Fords and Chevy's in Canada, then why shouldn't Toyota be allowed to race? I say let em race. On that token, if anyone is watching the prerace, DW just stated that the Camry is the only model in the race made in America. Camry is made in America, and the Monte Carlo is made in Canada, Intrepid in Mexico.

MichiganHuntr1
Re: The Great AMERICAN Race? OMG you obvioulsy have no clue. My family all works for the big three. There are NO talks with merging with Toyota for one thing. They feel the heat from Toyota more than anyone. Plants get bought out From Toyota. Employees are forced to take major pay cuts or get fired. Unions are forced out. My Uncle worked for Toyota. He left and went to GM because of the way Toyota treats its employees. I stand up for the worker. Not the employer. I live in the State that hosts the most big three employees. And guess what, look how our state is fairing. Ask Nick and I Our Jobs were in direct ties in a sense with the Auto Companies.

Lay off the American worker and ship their work to plants offshore with cheap labor and no environmental concerns. Lets all wake up and smell the coffee boys and girls your jobs just may be next. Sad part of the deal is our politicians and government are letting our jobs and their tax base head offshore. I hope I live long enough to see these practices bite both our greedy corporations, and our bought off politicians get bit right on the butt. Nick
Re: The Great AMERICAN Race? I have to agree. Most of Michigans manufacturing jobs are American auto parts suppliers. There may be Toyotas made here in America but the bottom line is, where is most of the money going? OVER SEAS. Joe Shmoe and Harry Gary are making their $40,000 a year working for the Toyota company down South here in the USA but all the billions that are being made off their vehicles are going over-seas, its not staying here in America. As to where Chevy, Ford, and Dodge are vice versa. Sure, they have parts suppliers in other countries, even some car makers in other countries, but all the big dollars are coming back to America. VermontHunter
Re: The Great AMERICAN Race? Actually all if not most of the profits are resourced back into the US Economy... You might want to read this report/study done by the Univiersity Of Kentucky Business and Economic Dept. .... More than 75 percent of the parts and 98 percent of the steel used in vehicles at TMMK come from U.S. Suppliers. Amongst other spending within the US http://www.toyotageorgetown.com/pdfs/haywood.pdf

[/ QUOTE ] There's plenty of other studies out there as well... Just google for them.. I'm NOT trying to advocate for Toyota,, but it seems silly to me to bash them for being here when OUR so called manufactures have moved most if not all of the manufacturing out of the US to only get cheaper labor, and charge us more for the end result... and find that OK ... AdvantageTimberLou
Re: The Great AMERICAN Race? Bottom line is the profit goes back to the mothership which is in JAPAN! Why do you think they put plants in the U.S. and employ Americans? They know they have to win us over and buy there cars and trucks so in return for jobs for Americans here in the U.S. they put plants on our soil in hopes you and I go out and buy their product. Its an attempt to get us away from the Big 3 that for some of us are in our backyards. I for one will never drive a Toyota!!
