Jeramie
There is a lot of public land in Chouteau, OK. I have hunted it once or twice but never spent much time there. Its restricted to shotgun and bow only. Ive been looking at one spot that is several hundred acres. This past bow season I saw a truck there twice..... Literally. No one hunts it because Rifle hunters are for more prevalent here. Anyway, yesterday I took a small detour on the way home. I took an access road and just looked things over. On the way in and out I saw a huge mud puddle where lease-land cattle had been drinking and basically making a mess... I couldn't help myself so I stopped and headed through the fence to the puddle. I found a few deer tracks and then found exactly what I was looking for....... Long skinny toes! Smack dab in the middle of the large (25' long) puddle were fresh Turkey tracks! Ive been eyeballing this area. Ive hunted turkeys just north of there... but this makes for whole new possibilities! Im gong scouting Saturday. Ill let you know how that comes out..... Hope the whole thing pans out for you. It may just save you the cost of one first-class plane ticket.

Id gladly take you around the stomping grounds, as long as we can talk about something other than the awesomeness of magnums.
Jeramie
Re: Public land possibilities! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO! A guy at worked sent me a link to all core land! Im in, the land is public access! One spot down the road I was wanting to hunt during deer season is nixed, its private land..... HOWEVER, a spot I often see a herd of does is PUBLIC! Im stoked.
