Thump a monster! Im heading out Saturday. Our season is drawing near end and this has turned out to be the worst season ive ever had..... Literally.

Its been windy and the birds haven't been talking much. Pressure hasn't been bad but they have been very quiet. Thus far Im disappointed. That doesn't mean Im not giving it 100% this weekend. Hopefully I can close the deal.

good luck to all of you that are still hunting or just starting your seasons. ours here in alabama ended yesterday at sunset. it was one of our most difficult seasons to date. henned up birds early, cold/wind/rain middle, & perfect at the end. the last five days of season was 5 of the best days as far as hearing birds, but was unable to sill the deal on another tom.

i am ready for some much needed rest. out of the 46 day season, i probably hunted 35-40 of those days & ended up with only the 1 bird & i am very thankful for him. i know of many hunters around here who were unable to squeeze the trigger at all this year. as tough as it was, i can't wait for next spring to do it all over again. time to start fishing now.

Yep... I posted it this past weekend. Read the rules last week and realized you have to use your first kill. That makes four for our team.

Well gang I let you down. I hunted harder than I ever have and had absolutely the worst year ever. Typically I hear gobbles and can find birds hours after daylight. This year they didn't gobble at all. It was very weird.

Some say its the weather we have been having... Im not sure what it was but Ive never been so disappointed in my life. Almost every year I call up Hens at least and this year I didn't even see a single hen, literally. Very untypical. Occasionally you would hear a shock gobble but after sitting in the same spot for over 3.5 hours this past Saturday with absolutely no response, I had to move on.

Its like they disappeared from this part of the state, only we know better. I found their roost tree (neighbors, couldn't hunt it). I found tracks, feathers, scratches, etc. No birds. I knew when they flew down early season but again, neighbors. They just wouldn't respond. I tried 5-different slate calls, one glass, box calls, diaphragms, decoys, no decoys, stalking, sitting, etc. Nadda..... Half the guys I know locally didn't see a single bird.

Weird year for sure. Windy, windy, windy, hot/ cold etc. I literally almost payed for a guided hunt in hopes I would have more luck.....

I wish we could post your best turkey b/c i shot a monster today. It had two beards 10 1/4, 8 5/8 inches weighed 24 lbs and had two spurs at 1 1/8 inch long.

I typed the story in turkey hunting and I somehow erased it..... to late to start over I'll retype it later.
