Very nice lines with a much trimmer stock than my mark IIs. I also like the 22" barrel on the standard calibers better than the current trend towards 24s. The regular Hawkeye like i have posted the picture of is selling for $599....not cheap...but then no rifles are cheap these days! Shocking how much prices have goine up over the past several years. [/ QUOTE ] I would suspect it HAS to be lighter & that the listed weights are wrong. The stock is MUCH trimmer. The acttion appears to be the same.... The weight difference nay not be a lot but it has to be there just the same. Much like the fact that as bore diameter goes up for any given contour the weight goes down because more metal is removed. That does not show up in listed weights either. A 6.5x55 would be a great addition to what they offer. Because I shoot lefty I most liekly will only have the 270,30-06, 300 mag & 7mm mag to pick from. But I could see a rebarrel to 9.3x62, 275 Rigby or maybe a 338 win mag in my future I like the Ruger action better than the Montana action....one of the few being offered in left hand now as action or barreled action only. And the whole rifle only costs a bit more than what Montana is asking. And you end up with a stock that fits.
