my prof. for this biology class i am taking doesnt have a clue. and as luck would have it, this week we are learning about EVOLUTION!!!! he thinks that intelligent design or creation have no place in school because it is more of a religion thing and it is not science. i want to argue with him soo bad but he one of those people who dont care what you think and you could argue with him for hours and get nothing out of it. he thinks the world is 4.5billion years old for goodness sakes. and he even went soo far as to say that Jesus "vaporized" into thin air while he was in the tomb. If anyone can help me out with this situation it would be greatly appreciated. i just have no idea where to start cuz he will throw whatever i say back in my face and say that i am sinning for telling him what he thinks or believes is wrong. so i dont know what to do. i got so mad in class today taht i almost got up and walked out. AND ITS ONLY THE FIRST DAY!!!!!!! i still have 17 days to put up with his "opinion." but on the other hand we are only studying evolution for this week. then we move on to other stuff. but im sure his radical views will still come about.....

Most of the time you can't convince a scientist of anything, they only believe what they read in books. I would stay calm, remember that science only explains so much, God's timeframes aren't the same as ours.

Re: makes me MAD!!!!!!!

Try to get along, even though you disagree.

You might want to mention though, that there is a whole other group of "Scientists" out there, that disagree with evolution, but for some strange reason, they don't get the lime-light.

Evolution is also just a theory and should be taught as such, not taught as a fact.

It takes just as much or more faith to believe in the distorted findings of science sometimes, than it does to believe in creation.

Re: makes me MAD!!!!!!!

Gods Word is very clear. Unsaved men cannot grasp the understanding that is given to God's People. It is totally natural for the unsaved world to follow a man created religion; Evolution being just one of many.

With that said, if you are truly a Child of God, God's Will, will be done through you, that is, if it pleases God, you will witness to this man, that God is the Creator of Heaven, and Earth, and the Author of Salvation, and Faith, regardless if it costs you.

In the meantime, do not waste your time argueing Creation through science. God is clear that we are to speak with Spiritual Wisdom, and not the Wisdom of the world as we preach the Gospel to the unsaved.

Hope this helps.

Re: makes me MAD!!!!!!!

thanks for all the help guys. the only thing is that if i try to tell him my opinion he isnt goin to listen. i heard him talkin to someone during break and he said that he wasnt tryin to make them not believe their religion he was just teaching them something. he isnt teachin evolution as a theory or his opinion. he is teachin it as the truth. everytime he says how old the world is he says it with a certain tone like he is absolutely sure everything he is saying is the honest truth. i know as a child of god i need to show him God thru me but i just dont know how to go about it when i am fuming mad.

People are entitled to different opinions, however teaching should not be forcing anyone to ACCEPT those opinions or views. Think evolution is taught in all school systems, but is taught as theory. Thing about theories they have to be proven, if he is teaching otherwise, might bring it up to your principal. Would do what you have to do to get credit for the class and move on though, dont let the guy get you worked up, would also not suggest arguing with him in class out of respect as even though you or I do not agree with him, he is still your elder and is a teacher and deserves to at the very least be given that respect.

Re: makes me MAD!!!!!!!

it was even worse today. i cant even start to say how mad i was today. he came outright and said that he could "sink" Noah's ark with 330 species of hummingbirds. he says hummingbirds are only found in north and south america. they are not found in the other parts of the world and if noah's ark was over there the hummingbirds would be there too. they cant fly across the ocean. i can believe he said that HE could disprove the ARK with just little birds. i dont know if i can take these false teachings for 16 more days. i lost a couple hours of sleep over this last night. i just laid there and the things he said just kept running through my head. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. ive been prayin for this guy.

Ditto

Do what you have to do to get the grade you want. You will only be spinning your wheels with this guy and possibly hurting your transcript in the mean time.

Re: makes me MAD!!!!!!!

i wrote "these are just the answers that the TEST AND YOU require for a grade BUT these are no the answers that I BELIEVE." then he caught me after class and told me he saw my little note. then he asked me "how can you be a major in biology and not believe evolution?" I said "its simple, i dont need to teach people that we evolved from monkeys while im working on their teeth!" and he didnt really know waht to say to that. i plan on goin into the medical field if you didnt catch that and not being a teacher. This week we are studying a different subject so hopefully the evolution part wont be so important for the material. he didnt say much about it today. but im still prayin for him.

Re: makes me MAD!!!!!!!

It always amazes me that all scientists aren't believers.

I mean look at the human body for instance....we run on electricity. Where did that come from? Look at the complexity of the human heart which can, under certain circumstances, redirect blood flow as necessary after a heart attack. Look at the miracle of childbirth.

Look at the heavens and the earth and then try to explain the natural laws scientifically. It is amazing.

With some people I found that if you get in their faces...especially professors....you will lose. Sometimes if you approach it cautiously and in a nice civil tone and debate it reasonably they will listen.

I personally never understood the professor that must be right. I learn the most sometimes when I am arguing with someone about something.

Re: makes me MAD!!!!!!!

I can't believe I missed this--what a great thread.

I was fortunate enough in high school to have a teacher that taught both creation and evolution. Though I wasn't a Christian at the time, he was unafraid to put evolution in it's place. This teacher did actually believe in evolution, but pointed out the most obvious flaw with evolution.

That flaw is the origin of life itself. The chance that a pool of "stuff" could randomly form itself into the first DNA molecule is nearly impossible from a mathematical perspective. Looking at it scientifically, it's probably more likely that we were created in test tubes in another galaxy and transplanted here by aliens.

Remember the Hale-Bopp comet cult that committed suicide when the comet came along? From a probability standpoint, they were probably closer to the truth than evilutionists!

Of course, applying mathematics to the theory of evolution is only one way of looking at it. I do think that microevolution is possible and there is some evidence of that. I'm no deist, but the evidence is there that God gave his creation the ability to change over time--but not over millions of years--and NOT into different species altogether.

There is not any evidence of cross-species evolution. There is NOT a half-fish, half snake or half-man, half-monkey. There is a ton of great research out there that not only disputes C-14 dating, but also shows the impact of a worldwide flood.

A few weeks ago on a repeat of Truths that Transform, the radio ministry of Rev. D. James Kennedy, he had an interview with Ken Ham and they talked extensively about where dinosaurs belong. In the resource section of the site, www.coralridge.org, there are CDs available as well as a booklet called What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs. This might be good for you to order. I have not personally read this, but heard a bit of the discussion and was completely blown away by what he had to say. It strengthened my faith and gave me some backing of arguements against evolution.
