WABS Posted March 27, 2007 Report Share Posted March 27, 2007 I have a Savage 300 WSM, T/C Blackdiamond, and a Austin Halleck muzzleloader all with black synthetic stocks. All I feel are a little butt light. I'm thinking of adding some lead weight inside the hollow space of the stock (using some expanding foam). Anyone out there have experience with this? I think I would find a rifle that felt good and try to get them the same weight. The only problem I could see would be balance issues. Seems to me someone had a similar question in the past and there was an "easy fix". I've seen the foam before but I'm pretty sure there was some sort of insert in addition. Take a knife and get all the foam that you can, I cooked the sand for about 1/2 an hour to get all the moister out, and filled it full. If the pad is screwed on, you can remove it carefully and add some weight. You can use many different things from lead shot, wheel weights, sinkers, bolts etc. You can hold it in place with expanding foam. Use a razor blade to make a small slice in the pad. Insert a drill that is the same size as the straw tube and make a hole in the base. Use expanding foam to fill the hollow stock through the pad. This will also reduce the hollow sound of the stock.
