Tommy Thompson

I've got to say that I'm totally stoked that Tommy Thompson is running for president. The guy doesn't ahve the name recognition of Rudy or John McCain--but he also doesn't cave on conservative beliefs.

A pro-life, tax-cutting, pro-education, pro-business conservative, he invented welfare reform--real welfare reform that takes people off the free paycheck list. Though Bill Clinton took credit for it, it was Tommy all the way.

I am afraid he won't make it past Iowa--that's where he's putting all of his limited resources--but really hope he does.

There are few truly conservative candidates in the field for 2008 but after all he did for Wisconsin, I can only imagine what he'd do for the nation.

I'm 100% behind this guy's political positions, values, excellent track record--and it doesn't hurt that he's a cheesehead that rides a Harley.

(I feel compelled to say that this is MY opinion and in no way represents Realtree. Though it's pretty obvious, I usually just don't outright endorse candidate like this.)

Re: Tommy Thompson

Had not heard an official announcement yet that he was running Mark.

Had really hoped that Fred Thompson would make an official announcement, think he might have a good shot.

Have to wonder with the big field out there, how it might effect the outcome in 08. Looks as though Hillary has more financial support at this point than any others in the race.

Re: Tommy Thompson

I just hope he's able to get out the conservative base in Iowa. I would think there's a possibility because of the midwestern connection. I can't imagine primary voters, the most conservative, to turn out in droves for McCain or Giuliani.

Than again, the base will need to actually vote their conscience and beliefs instead of for the most likeable or most electable candidate.

We are at a point where I feel we are better off having a conservative Republican lose than supporting someone who is a RINO just because they're the least villified in the media (aka a moderate).

I'll take a "moderate" anyday over a right wing conservative!

Not me, I'll take the farthest right candidate there is. wink.gif
