Really great Ebay Transaction!

We added onto the house we bought a couple of years ago. In true form to those that do the majority of work themselves, we have yet to finish... tongue.gif

We are actually really close. The only thing we really have to do is hook up a Corner Jacuzzi tub I put in for my wife and change some carpet. Ive been putting both off for quite some time. Ive had way to much on my plate to worry about it.

Anyway, I have to have a Roman Faucet for the tub. A standard faucet doesn't reach over the sides (sides are wider due to the jets). Ive been looking for a good deal but the really ugly ones are $100+ while the nice ones are literally $250+. I started watching Ebay and occasionally would find one I liked but they didn't have valves and such. Adding porcelain valves could get expensive.

Finally last week I see one that caught my eye. It was complete, valves and all. Brushed silver, swan style. Really nice Pfizer product. The guy listing it didn't know anything about it. He used a very vague description, etc. I asked him if he was sure it was for a tub and not a sink (looks to fancy for a tub) but he had no idea. I looked up the model number and it was a "Roman Tub Faucet."

Anyway, I took the chance, got it in yesterday. Its beautiful and exactly what we wanted. It would have ran well over $200 at any store including Lowe's and could easily have been around $275. Total including Shipping and insurance?! $62! Everything is still packaged and has NEVER been broke open!

Anyway, that got me to thinking..... Anyone else gotten any really good deals on Ebay? Let me hear em.....

Re: Really great Ebay Transaction!

I hate Ebay, too many scams.

However, I find a LOT of things on Craigslist that I bought for cheap or sold for decent prices and it is free to list.

I bought a Kimber Tactical Custom II 45 ACP with a Bianchi 19L leather holster for $650. That's about a $1,200 to $1,300 gun and holster set new.

Re: Really great Ebay Transaction!

Congrats Jeremie. I buy alot off ebay. The best buys seem to be new golf shirts for $20-$25 that sell in stores for around $50+. We've only had 1 or maybe 2 bad transactions from Ebay in over 500. cool.gif

If you want it, someone is selling it on Ebay grin.gif

Re: Really great Ebay Transaction!

I have over a 1500 feedback rating. I sell a lot of items. Buy a few, but mostly sell. Have only had a couple of bad transactions, where buyers did not pay for items, which really isn't a problem. All of my purchases have been good.

I do get the occaisional scam emails from ebay & paypal, but I know those are coming and just delete them and report it to ebay/paypal.

Re: Really great Ebay Transaction!

I still find the occasional bargain on ebay, but so much of that stuff is either junk, a scam, or costs more than it would at a discount store. You really have to shop at it to find the good deals.

My best deal was a brand new $1500 whitewater kayak that I bought for $500 + $65 shipping. The guy said he picked it up at a freight salvage auction and didn't have a clue what it was worth.

I thought you were gonna tell us about buying an addition for your house on eBay! grin.gif

Anyway, I wanna see pix of this faucet!

Here is another (exactly the same) that he has listed. There are a lot of others for the same price but if you read they say "Trim Only" which basically means no valves or any plumbing....

I've gotten several things on ebay that were great deals. NFL tickets, hard to find movies and cds, clothes, antiques. I really like ebay. Haven't had a problem yet.

Congrats on the faucet Jeramie, it's pretty. wink.gif

Sorry, I've had 500+ transactions with only a couple bad deals. wink.gif

That's a good percentage..very good. Call me scrooge but two bad out of a million is too many.

Try craigslist for your area, no listing fees and you meet the person to do business. Just watch the scammers on there.

I like Craigslist much better.

Re: Really great Ebay Transaction!

I have had over 800 transactions on eBay and have only had a problem with one person! He claimed I sent him different bullets from what I had listed! He lied because that is the only box of those bullets I have ever had! frown.gif

I have bought several items and never had a problem! smile.gif

i've done hundreds of deals on ebay, and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars (4 vehicles alone), and never lost a cent. but, there are a lot of scams out there, and one does have to be careful.

Tell me about it! Im pretty frugal about my transactions on line. It took me forever just to take that plunge! I still shop very carefully!
