need2hunt
I'm not sure where to put this so I put it here, a mod can move it if they need to. Well I won't name the store so as not to bash it but I'm about at my wits end with them. It used to be a very reliable store but over the last year or so it just seems like they are idiots when it comes to customer service or even knowing what they have in stock and what it is for. I remember wanting to put a camo stock on my one gun and I was told that they don't carry any for it, and then 10 minutes later I found the exact thing I needed a mere 5 feet away from where the expert told me that they don't carry them. So anyway like I said I've had problems with them. My latest fiasco was I needed a youth gun for my oldest girl we went there as they have a larger selection. We found a couple guns that would fit her and then I took some time to figure out what would be best for her. So I calledthem last week and asked if they had the Mossberg Bantam Youth Turkey gun in stock to which the answer was no. They are a chain store and they did have some at other ones of there stores and said that they could have it sent over for me. I let them know that my concern was that season was close so I needed the gun to be in within a weeks time to allow for the 24 hour waiting period and basically give me a half a day to get it sighted in. Not a problem I was told and they took my name and number and would call me once it came in. Well I called them on Tuesday and was told that it wasn't in and to be honest the guy I talked to sounded like he would rather be standing in the rain than talk to a customer. I called them today to see if it was in, this time got someone that was actually helpful, he checked there received for the day as well as there holding area for ordered guns - the answer once again was no it's not in. I then told him that I was a bit miffed and if they couldn't guarantee me that the gun would be in tomorrow I would have to go somewhere else to get it. He then says "Well the two things that are strange is I can't even find anywhere that there is a record that you ordered the gun in the first place and secondly I don't know why you ordered it when we have one sitting right behind me in open stock." My answer was "Well mark another great experience up to __________" I told him that whoever took "care" of me originally evidently didn't bother to write down any of my info, had the gun delivered and then just set it in open stock. At least this person was apologetic, that's about all I'll give them. This store carries good products but it's employees really aren't worthwhile to have in a sporting goods store. End rant

toddyboman
Re: Hunting Store Rant I would try and talk to the store manager. As an former retail store manager I hated to hear about poor customer service but I always wanted to hear about it. I DID NOT allow it in my stores. If it did you was GONE!! Stinks to recieve bad service. Was it younger people?? Was the store busy?? Im going to guess a big box store (dicks, gander mountain, bass pro, cabelas). Newarcher
Re: Hunting Store Rant Sounds a LOT like Bass Pro Shops to me and quite normal for my local store. I generally don't order anything like that just for the reason you specified. Personal service to let someone know their stuff is in is what I expect and you rarely get that. I will drive to get what I want or order it off the net. New
wtnhunt
Re: Hunting Store Rant Too bad you did not get better service. never been to a gander mountain store, but I will say this for the wal mart stores here that carry guns, our local store here does a pretty good job of finding out if they have the gun you want at another store or at ordering what you want if it is a special order or out of stock gun.
