And Me Too!! :D

I was too old to go for Ohio's Youth Turkey Season and when a friends grandson asked if my Dad would take him hunting this Spring we found ourselves heading out at 5:30am this past Saturday.

Here's a quick recall of how the hunt played out.

Ryan is 14yrs old and only been to the turkey woods once with someone else to watch.

We set up close to a gobbler on roost and let out some calls and we did get some response from him, but he hit the ground and was done gobbling. Spent a little more time there but no good.

We were driving down the road and seen a flock of Jakes by the road, tried to get on them but no good. So we decided to throw a loop down in the woods, stop and call, walk on. Got out in a field and heard a gobble! But it sounded like it was across a crick. We set up and hit the calls, they really liked the gobble call, and it wasn't long before I heard Ryan say "they flew the crick". Sitting there I could here the foot steps coming, they'll pop into view any second.....

I could see three red heads come out in the field at only 10-15 yards from Ryan, but he didn't have his gun up yet and my Dad was telling him to shoot. Well one seen him move and started putting, luckily Ryan got the gun on the biggest he said and brought him down!

He picked that bird up and said "he must weigh 40 Pounds!!" Lol I had to tell him it was no Butterball! :D

He was pretty proud and said it was better then deer hunting! Fun day of Hunting right there!

14lbs, 4 1/4 Beard, 3/8 Spurs.

Here's the Happy Hunter Himself!
