Casting Call Set For 'Hogzilla' Movie.

South Georgia's Monster Swine Heads To The Big Screen

POSTED: 10:09 am EDT April 28, 2007

ALAPAHA -- South Georgia's near mythical monster hog is heading to the big screen.

Lithium Productions is helping produce a horror movie about the super swine called "The Legend of Hogzilla."

The company is hosting tryouts at a nearby movie theater in early May to cast extras for the flick.

The town 180 miles south of Atlanta adopted Hogzilla as its own after the huge porker was shot in 2004 by guide Chris Griffin at a hunting preserve.

Photos of the porker hanging from a backhoe were trumpeted around the world and the town quickly adopted Hogzilla as its own.

It even launched a parade in the pig's honor.

Producers said the movie will have plenty of south Georgia touches. They hope to have about 500 local residents try out for 200 parts, and the film will be shot in Tift and Berrien counties.

And just to make sure the horror flick doesn't stray too far from reality, producers said Hogzilla's killer will be on the set to advise the moviemakers.

Producer Rick Trimm said -- quote -- "he's our hog expert."
