Jeramie
Ive been watching auctions on Ebay for a while. I found a place that sales 12-Gold Tip Xt's, with inserts and nocks for just over $50. Thats a good deal since the cheapest I can get them around here would be well over $75. I ordered them (won the auction) and they came in yesterday! Exactly what I wanted! Advantage timber shafts, no fletchings (I wanted to tear off the vanes and refletch anyway)! Now Ive got something to do this weekend! btw, I need to buy an arrow saw. What would everyone suggest? How are those little $25 jobs on ebay? Or should I look for a nicer saw?
hutchies
Jermie if you buy the $25 saw then buy you a G5 arrow squaring device because more than likely it is not gonna cut the ends straight. The ASD will run you about $40 but well worth the money. I just take mine to the local shop and have them cut. I don't cut enough for me to buy a saw. What vanes are you fletching? Wraps or no? BTW I found some new glue that is awesome. It is called Beyond Bond and this stuff strong. I just made these up last week. Date stamp is wrong. Jeramie
I figured id get some use out of the saw. It be nice to have. I have some 4" duravanes and im ordering in some blazers. Yes im using wraps. Once I started I wont look back. I love they way they look and how much cleaner the shaft is once its time to refletch. I thought about buying some Killers too but the guy told me to try Vane tech. They are suppose to be a much better vane... Ill check out the glue. Do they have it at BP? Ive been using super glue gel and it works with the wraps but im always open to new stuff!
hutchies
I think I'm the one that got you started on Superglue gel..........LOL. I still use that stuff but the blazers seem to stay on better with steelforce beyond bond. The killers are great vanes. I used them for years. They are on the heavy side though. Jeramie
Thats the only thing that worries me. They were really thick with the Arizona EZ fletch. It made it hard to get the jig loose without pulling off a fletch before it had a good chance to dry....
hutchies
How did the superglue gel do? The thing I like about that superglue gel is that it dries in 15 minutes and is ready to go. The beyond bond smells like the stuff they use at nail salons to put on fake nails. I would try a few with the superglue and if you have problems then try the beyond bond. tedicast
I have had very good luck with Goat Tuff for glue on blazers, and bare shafts. As for an affordable arrow saw, Cabelas has a 5,000 RPM saw, that comes with an arrow spinner for $99. Thats a hard price to beat for a true arrow saw. No matter what arrow saw you buy, a G5 arrow squaring device is a must have.
