ryan1990
Went out last night and found 4 birds roosted. We would call And every single time they would all fire off. So we went out early this morning to beat them out of the roost. We tried sneaking in from the South because we thought they were in a tree just North of there the night before. We are almost were we want to be and my friend calls. They all gobble right behind us. so we turn around to get into position. Two of us are shooting and one is filming and calling. We sit there and call to them for about 20 minutes and they are still in the roost. They fly down and come right were we want them. We get our guns up and then it all goes down hill. Two young hens come in and these 4 boys loose all interest in our calls and follow the hens in the opposite direction. We try to pick a fight wth the hens and they are too young so they dont wanna fight and they just get out of there. They head over a hill and into these bottoms on property we cant hunt. So there goes my chance at my first bird. This is my second unsuccessful season in a row. Im determined to get one in the fall though. toddyboman
The enemy got ya. That enemy tends to win a lot of those battles. Something about the real deal those old gobblers like. Sounds like a fun hunt none the less. Is your season over??
