Newarcher
Vent again..... Some of you might remember how the little league Florida team cheated to win the game with us last time (coach pushed the player back to 3rd base to avoid the tag). That run ended up being the winning run. We played them again on Saturday. It started quickly. They sent a player home and he slid and was called out--the runner on second advanced to third. Their coach comes out of the dugout to protest and tell the ump that he was out at home. Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch the ump and the coach for Florida. The coach positioned himself between the home plate umpire and third base. Well, whadda you know, they sent the runner from third home. I believe the pitcher had the ball at the time, had went back to the mound, and the play had stopped. We freaked out becuase either A) the coach is thrown out for protesting during a live play or B) time had been called....you can't have both. So the coach ended up losing his argument and the runner went back to third base. Then the umpire waved the kid on third into the dugout and counted the run. The HP umpire was busy arguing with their coach, and let the run score. Again, the same umpires that stood there and didn't call the last rule violation refused to make a call, other than no call. The other Flordia does is big hits (we had two), they send the short stop up and he intentionally impedes the runner when rounding second. He did it twice, moving to stay in the player's way. Now, the rule is that the kid can't be called out at third because of it. Yet, had the runner not been impeded, he would have had time to score. That's wrong and I want to tell the kids that if they do it during the playoffs to level the kid....but that would be wrong. I hate freaking people like that. I really do. This time, it didn't affect the outcome of the game, we lost 5-2 (should have been 4-2). I hope to meet them in the playoffs. New
Guest Clay008
I would definitely tell the kids to run flat over that shortstop blocking the pass path unless they are trying to field the ball. That is the only way to get that call. Plus the shortstop learns a good lesson. It is no different than taking someone out of second on a double play ball. Oh yeah and about that umpire...there are only a few good ones out there. It is amazing to see some of the stuff they pull. We used to play a team here that had a first baseman that would hit you as hard as possible when trying to pick you off. It would knock the breath out of you. Well, one player finally had enough of it and pretty much took a dive right in the kids knee. Needless to say he was done for the game and probably the season. If you are going to play dirty be prepared for the payback.
Guest Andrea
You guys are playing a Florida team??? Is your son on a traveling team??? Regardless, cheating sucks and I hate you had to endure it. That's not how OUR team plays. But you're gonna run into that anywhere you go.

No, they are just named after college teams....we got Carolina and I am a Duke fan. I had to be revived when I heard that. No one likes the Florida coach, no one. Guest Clay008
Thats cool that they are named after college teams. I have never seen that before. Talking about coaches that no one likes, this weekend one of the coaches on the team my brother was playing against this weekend starting mouthing off towards my brothers team. The coach was showing some real class let me tell you. My kids are going to play golf that way there are no coaches or politics. Let your score do the talking. Plus that will be a good exuse for me to play more golf.

New That situation with the umpire is the biggest load of bull I have ever heard. So apparently the umpires are trying to help Florida win the game? That's the only way I can figure them allowing that run to score.
archerjg
Can you take it to the league that the teams play in? Maybe they would be willing to do something to monitor or stop this situation. Good luck with the rest of your games. Archerjg
stevebeilgard
wow. teaching teams that cheating wins... that's just too bad. our kids may have lost the game, but they'll be the real winners in life.
BowJoe
I say fight fire with fire. Start recording your games and present the proof to the league officials. No sense arguing when you can show proof. Just don't turn into one of those obsessed parents that gets mad and looks as foolish as the people he's arguing against. Newarcher
Well, fortunately, this time it didn't make a difference in the game. We squarely lost 5-2 but last time his cheating did make the difference. I forgot the other way that he cheated....this guy has been coaching for some time and knows most of the players. What he did was had the "best" players in the leage, pitchers and hitters stay home from the tryouts. Then he drafted them onto his team so he would have the best team. Sick. Anyway, I gotta give props to our coaches because they did protest but kept it civil and were remarkably calm. I hope that when we meet them in the playoffs, we take them out. They have a game tomorrow night against the other #1 team and I may go watch and root against them! New
