stevebeilgard
i don't watch it, but hey... there were 50 million votes cast? it's a joke. 50 million people did not vote. what people do is program computers to dial a number, cast a vote, and re-dial the number. can get two calls a minute all day, every day, casting votes for their favorite. not fair, not good, and with no regard for talent. just manipulation, pure & simple. so, it's not how good you are, it's who has the computer bank. if they get it down to one vote per phone number, it might just work.... Doc
Obviously there is something wrong with call-in voting. In this age of technology, there are way too many ways to skew the vote. There have been so many examples of that on that show. The biggest example was the fact that Sangiya (sp?) lasted as long as he did. It seems that every year there are some blatant examples of that sort of thing. Doc
Jeramie
I thought Melinda was going to win, but in the last few weeks Jordin has been doing really well. I think she will come away as the winner. BeatBoxing can only take him Blake so far. I agree with that 100% I seriously thought Melinda would be in the top 2. Vocally she is head and shoulders above everyone that is one the show. The only reason I even had a hit that she wouldn't win was the Marketing. Jordan is very pretty, Blake is a good looking guy, and Melinda can just sing. She isn't awful but this show is very much controlled (at this level) by teens with phones..... Doc
Blake is a "one-trick pony". The first time I heard the beatbox thing, I thought it was a very unique sound and kind of a clever thing to work into the right kind of song. It sure didn't take very long for it to get real "tired" when it got real obvious that he was going to stuff it into EVERY song whether it fit or not. It also got real obvious that he had very little else in the talent department. Jordan seems to have the whole package, but while she can really sing well, she really is not in the same league as Melinda. About the only thing I can say negative about Melinda is that it would have been nice if she had been born with a neck. There is something weird looking about seeing her head sitting directly on top of her shoulders with no neck in between. Too bad she didn't have the looks to go with that magnicent voice and singing ability. Doc

And NEVER once have I based it upon the singer's looks. EVER. Otherwise, I would NOT own anything by Van Halen, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Kenny Chesney, Alabama, Big & Rich, Tina Turner, Cheap Trick, Madonna, Wynonna Judd, R.E.O. Speedwagon, Journey, NewsBoys, MercyMe, Collective Soul, Randy Travis, Gretchen Wilson, Goldfrapp, Sting, Phil Collins, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson ( the old stuff), Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Leanne Rimes, Cyndi Lauper, Christina Aguilerra...........I could go on and on and on. Doc
Sure would be different if this was a radio show instead of TV. You know, that would be interesting if you could only hear the show. I suspect it would take on a whole different aspect of who everybody thought was really good and who was really bad. The strange thing is that that is pretty much the only way I ever listen to music......the radio, CD's or tapes. Most of the time I don't even have a clue what the singers actually look like other than a quick glance at the CD label. I guess I'm pretty much in the minority on that with all the music videos that are out. At any rate, appearance and on-stage antics apparently play a large part in American Idol results.
