My wife and I both take long showers when we get the chance. When I added onto the house I designed a 4x5 walk in with two shower heads and a 12" wide bench. I figured my wife could sit on the bench to shave her legs and I could sit on the bench when I was to tired... It actually has proved effective in both cases. Every morning I shower and it is typically at least 10 minutes. If I shave its probably around 15. On Sunday mornings if were in a hurry we shower together to get finished quicker (hence the two shower heads, one on each end). Still, we may be in there 15 minutes. My in laws think that is weird! My father in law is about 6'1" and 270lbs. He showers in roughly 5 minutes and is out. My Mother In Law shaves her legs on the side of the tub and cant figure out why anyone would shave in the shower. They kept saying, "You kids these days....." I didn't think there was anything abnormal about shaving in the shower, especially when you have a wire brush face like I do. It make a huge difference I an almost cant shave in a sink without bloodletting. Also, a guy at work thinks Im odd for showering in the morning. He showers before bed and said he was to tired to shower in the mornings. Personally I have to wash the night away. If I dont shower every morning I feel like a slouch. Anyway, got me to thinking, how long do you shower? Do you shave in the shower? And Morning or Evening (eliminate extenuating circumstance, were talking daily ritual). stevebeilgard Posted May 22, 2007 Report Share Posted May 22, 2007 i built a shower just like yours. i used a 3 5 base, and added a 1 foot bench for the wife to shave her legs. i also put in corner shelves to hold soaps, shampoos, and razor. i like to come home and shower after work. gets rid of the days sweat. i'm build houses, so am outside all day long. just couldn't go to bed with my dirty body. i'll sometimes take 2 showers a day if it's really hot. i also shave in the shower. i hope you ran a 3/4 inch water line to your shower, so each head has plenty of water. running a 1/2 inch line will decrease pressure to the head. since i'm in wyoing, i never put a window in a bath room. just too cold. Usually in and out in under 7 minutes, but do take an occasional long shower after working in the garden or other types of work that a long warm shower may help. Sometimes shower mornings and evenings both, but always shower in the evenings, dont like getting in a clean bed feeling dirty. Shave at the sink. My oldest daughter, 11???? Guest Andrea Posted May 22, 2007 Report Share Posted May 22, 2007 I almost never take a shower unless I am just covered in filth. Otherwise I take a bath. In the evening. And I wash my hair every morning. My husband never takes a "bath"....he's a shower user. And usually out in about 7-8 minutes. The boys will stay in the shower until I pound on the door or the hot water runs out. Our new house will have the tankless water heater for never-ending hot water. We all have to shower sometimes (or at least I hope the majority does). Actually I was honestly curious. Seems like a lot of older guys take shorter showers..... So far anyway... Usually around 15 minutes I would guess, mainly because I am not a morning person and it takes that long for me to scrounge up the energy to turn off the water and get the day started. johnf Posted May 22, 2007 Report Share Posted May 22, 2007 I usually go 10-12minutes in the morning depending on how tired I am. I shave in the shower everyday but Saturday. I find you get a much closer, smoother shave with a lot less nicks and cuts in the shower. About the only time I'll shower at night is if I've been working outside and have to "Wash the world off my back". Then I usually sit under a cold shower untill I'm cooled off. I've never timed myself, but I'd be surprised if I go over 5 minutes. I guess taking sea showers in the service really drummed water conservation into my brain. Drives me nuts when someone takes a shower over 10 minutes. My wife is guilty of that because she shaves her legs in there, and has taught my daughter to do the same. I'm an electric shaver so it's over the sink before the shower every morning. Summer time is different. I usually get pretty filthy working in the gardens and such, so I usually shower in the afternoons in the summer, and I only shave when I can't stand it anymore, usually once every 4 or 5 days, or if I go oooot in public. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2 Posted May 22, 2007 Report Share Posted May 22, 2007 i am usually in and out of the bathroom in less than 15 minutes...so that would be around a 7 minute shower...the only time i shave is when i have somewhere fancy to go (wedding...etc...) otherwise i just use the beard trimmer i ALWAYS take a shower in the morning, sometimes, if i am out doings some work around the house or something, i will take a shower in the evening, but even then, i will still get up and take a shower the next morning. i never understood how people can wake up and not take a shower...i have to get the sleep off of me. Plus at night the hot shower relieves the stress/lets me sleep better and at morning it wakes me up. I wish to heck that I had a big shower with 2 heads in it. My average shower is probably around 15 mins. I think it stems from my high school days when after a football game or wrestling event i would shower at school and just sit there with the water running on me and replay the nights actions in my head and unwind a bit. However if it is really cold and I have to work outside that day I do not shower in the morning. As for shaving, every Sunday morning, ussually look like an ape by Saturday night. Will shave durring the week if I have a meeting to go to etc! As for where, ussually by the sink, some time while watching the news on TV. Sometimes while driving to work! I shower in the evenings, because I'm always filthy after being outside working all day (landscaping/farming). In the mornings in the summer I don't take a shower because I don't wanna get up any earlier than I have to to make a pot o' coffee, russle up some grub, and be off.
