Update on neglected dog!(Sensitive Hearts beware)

Some of you may remember that over a month ago I had a moral delima over a dog that was being neglected. Well, I've gone to the Animal Shelter, Sheriff's Dept., Emailed all the County Commissioners and finally the local newspaper. Don't know what else to do, but I'm afraid he's not going to make it through the summer. I got a picture of him and I sent it to the newspaper on Friday, I guess my next step is the local TV Stations. Here is the pic of the poor guy. If you should feel led to call and report the neglect of this animal anonymously, PM me and I'll give you the number of the Shelter that is "Suppose" to investigate these things!

Sorry, but I'd be over the fence and letting the dog out. Feeding and watering it. No doubt about it.

Notice the water hose near his cage. There's no poop in it....does he stay in it 24/7?? Are these your neighbors???

Have you tried putting water in there??

Andrea, these are not my neighbors, but the neighbors of a customer of mine. They do live close to where I am, so I do go by as often as I can to check on him and see if anything has been done. There usually is poop in the cage, but this picture was taken pretty early in the day. Not sure about the 24/7 thing since I'm not there in the evenings. And I do put water and some food in his bowl when I go by, that's why teh hose is where it is, but that would have defeated the purpose of the picture had I filled them up before hand. ;) Anyway, a friend of mine, his wife worked for one of the local tv stations in Charlotte for almost 10 years, so she emailed the pic to some of her friends over there yesterday. I'll keep y'all posted.

Call the district attorney for the area and talk to him/her.

Have you, by the way, stopped to talk to the owners of the dog to let them know that what they are doing is wrong and inhumane? Maybe they just don't know better....although that seems like it would be difficult not to.

That's kind of a sticky situation. The owners, putting it nicely, are thugs. The neighbors that I have talked to say the cops are constantly over there breaking up domestic disputes, and that the husband is on work release and serves time in the slammer on the weekends for cocaine possession. Not you most upstanding citizens. The husband was also involved in a murder/manslaughter several years ago, so I'm a little apprehesive to go knocking on the door.

I would go (armed) on a weekend then and offer them $75 for the dog. "Hi, I visit my friend who is your neighbor and I see you have a beautiful dog in a pen on the side of your house. It looks like he doesn't have a lot of interaction with people and I could persuade you to part with him--to a good home, of course-- for $75. I have been looking for a good dog, and he looks great".

No harm and no foul. All they can do is tell you to leave.
