Steven
Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel? Its a new show that debuted tonight. The first episode appears to be rerunning right now. It's pretty cool, in the same vein as Deadliest Catch. Starting in Yellow Knife, Northwest Territories to the diamond mines just south of the Arctic Circle there is a 350 mile road that only exists when the ice is 16"+ that takes supplies to the mines. Dangerous stuff. Pretty good show, if you like Deadliest Catch you might want to check it out.

wtnhunt
Have not seen that one, will have to watch for it. Saw part of a show a couple years ago on trucks driving on the ice that was pretty interesting.
Jeramie
I watched a documentary on that very "Road". It was insane! The first group of guys that made the trek were very brave! They hauled dozers with them, drove through 4' of water, etc. Crazy!
c_lou
That was a pretty good show. Like Steven said it's out of the same mold as Deadliest Catch. I wouldn't figure that 16 inches of ice could hold the weight of a Semi, let alone some of the supplies they are hauling. 10 million to build the road that will be gone in less than 2 months. Crazy money.
RangerClay
I wanted to watch but 10pm is a little late for me. I hoping they will show some repeats this week.
Palssonater
That is a pretty accurate depiction of those guys. Winter roads are very common in Northern Canada. My dad drove them for many years hauling fuel on an 18wheeler into many remote Northern Communities. They always drive with their belt off, sometimes with one foot on the running board. Ever see them re-seat a bead on a popped tire? Starting fluid and a match. Very cool. We have a couple of road accesses close to us and see lots of these hardcore truckers comin through. Without them, our remote communities could not surivive.
