Steven
Yeah, so a few months ago I built the computer I'm using now. I'd never done it and was curious as to whether I could. Anyway, I have a few games I haven't been able to play. I have plenty of memory and hard drive, plenty of speed, Intel Core Duo processor. Basically its the same guts as my laptop and the games will play on it but it's too annoying to play on. The only thing I didn't upgrade is the video card. The games in question are Scarface and Hitman: Blood Money, although that doesn't matter. Blood Money will run but the graphics are so bad you can't make heads or tails of what's going on and Scarface does basically nothing. Does it sound like I'm just suffering from a lack of graphics capability or could it be something else? I'm tired of these games mocking me every time I sit down to play Godfather (again). Thanks in advance. As for the home built computer, I've had no other problems and have actually built another since for my nephew's birthday. Expensive hobby though. KenW
happy birthday Stephen. It sounds like it could be a graphics card. What card do you have?
Jeramie
The graphics card would be a good place to start. Thats is something to spend a few dollars on. It truly makes a difference, especially in the realm of games.
arrow32
As they said the graphics card is a great place to start. If that wasn't it I would have no idea. Try that out and let us know what happens.
Steven
Bingo. I upgraded the graphics card (I was just using the one that came with the motherboard) to a Visiontek Radeon X1300. I'm sure it's not top of the line, but it's working for my needs. I'm not a hardcore gamer anyway. I went ahead and upgraded the sound card to a Sound Blaster Audigy SE and added 5 more USB ports while I was in there, too. Thanks for the input, I figured that was my problem. Now I can play these games and not have them think they got the easy life of just sitting on my desk.
