LifeNRA
I stepped outside about 5PM this afternoon, seen this guy sitting under the tree next door. The temp was about 98 degrees, I asked him if he was ok. Starting asking him questions about being dizzy and such. I was worried that heat exhaustion was hitting him! He was walking with a cane and was sweating pretty badly. I got him a glass of cold spring water and asked him where he was going. He was going to visit his mother in a nursing home about 1.5 miles up the road. He thanked me for the water and said he will be on his way, I told him to take his time! As I was inside telling my wife, I grabbed my car keys and headed out the door. Drove up the street looking for him, he wasn't far. I asked him if I may take him up to the nursing home. He was happy that he didn't have to walk anymore. Equally happy I had the AC on full blast as well! He told me he had taken a bus from northern PA down here to see his mother. Also, that he had a knee replacement a few months ago! Got up at 6AM, got on a bus and headed south! Anyways, dropped him off at the front door, he again thanked me for the water and the ride. I wished him luck for his trip back. Now I am sitting here wondering if he will get back ok! Made me think about this heat, please check on the elderly in your family or friends! LifeNRA
Thanks all! I know I did good with what I done! I should have worded it differently. I know what heat exhaustion/almost heat stroke is! I had it! Its a terrible thing to go through! Scares me to see somebody like that walking so far! I knew what I was going to do before I went into the house to get my keys. I just wanted to people to know that they should check on other family members and friends during this time!
