dfol20 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Share Posted August 22, 2007 My wife and I are want to plan a trip to Europe (after we are debt free:)). Has anyone been there? What is the best way to visit? Cruise, train, one destination, mulitiple destinations? We are kind of looking at Denmark right now. It seems to be a place that not too many people go, unlike Spain or Italy. OJR Posted August 22, 2007 Report Share Posted August 22, 2007 I was stationed in England, but was all over Europe! The only problem is that was 45 years ago and I know it has changed! I had great times in England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, and Greece. I hated France, Turkey, and Libya! But of these, France was the worst! I even made one trip to the Azores! From what a friend of mine told me when he got back from Spain last year was that it was extremely expensive! If I were to go back, I would go to Denmark, Sweden and Norway! Master_Chief Posted August 22, 2007 Report Share Posted August 22, 2007 I have been there several times. Depends on what you are looking for. Food - hard to beat Italy and Greece. Scencery - Hard to beat Spain and France. People - Hard to beat Germany and Denmark/Norway. Beer - Germany no doubt. Taking a week or so tour can be grueling. On the bus, with baggage, different city every day, different hotel. You do however see a ton of places. You will be glad to get back and relax. If you are the adventurous type hop a train and do your own thing. No pressure, less people. If you have more questions post em and I will see how I can help. I have been to Italy, England, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Greece,Turkey, Ireland and Norway. I think that is about all. 23 years in the Navy did have its advantages.
