Bad back

Anyone here have back trouble. I have got a weak muscle or pinched nerve in my back, and it has to be one of the worst pains I have ever delt with. About once or twice a year I have trouble with it, and it is caused by the littlest things. Yesterday I was walking into work and someone said something to me. I turned my head to see who it was, and then dropped to my knees in pain. It feels like someone stabbing me in the back and just knocks the air out of me. Last time I did it, a swung an empty 5 gal bucket in the bed of the truck. I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning and the drive to work was no fun either. It usually takes a couple of days to get over it and I'am ready. People keep telling me that I need to go to a chiroprator, and everyone else is telling me once I go I have to keep going back.

I have a similiar problem, from falling out of a hay loft when i was a kid, and sometimes the simpliest movement like turning or putting a seat belt on will fire it up, mine is right below the shoulder blade in my back, i never had mine checked out, i just take aleve or bayer back and body, and it also goes away in a few days.

Last year I injured mine while fishing out in the Gulf. We were going over waves about 2-3 ft and slammed back down hard a few times. It wasn't until the next day that I felt the pain. I could NOT get out of bed. It was awful. Took me about 2 months to get back to normal. But every now and then the slightest thing like WALKING will aggravate it. I haven't been to a doctor or chiropractor either. Too scared.

Sucks getting older.....

Every once in awhile mine will bother me. But it will fade away. Couple of years ago it was so bad that I would just start cramping up for no reason. This was during turkey season, and I couldn't even sit down because of the cramping I'd get. I've been to a chiro about 3-4 times over the past few years, but I don't think its one of them things you have to CONTINUALLY go back for

Yep, been there! Just had surgery in May and they took out one bone spur and 2 calcium deposits that was rubbing against the spinal cord!

The surgery wasn't all the bad and I sure am glad I had it done!

I don't believe any chiropractor could have done anything for me and I don't put much faith in them anyhow! A MRI and a good neurosurgeon is the better way to go! That is my opinion!

My back is a complete mess and if they ever get a handle on the artificial disc replacement than I am first in line. For anyone who has never experienced nerve pain related to damaged discs in their back I can only say that I hope they never do. Once a bad back, always a bad back. Learn what aggravates it and try to avoid those activities. Use proper body mechanics, do a lot of stretching and maintain a strong core. By maintaining a strong core I mean keeping the abdominal and back muscles strong. It is a good idea to get the advise of a physical therapist or occupational therapist when considering the proper exercises that will strengthen but not cause additional harm.

I'm no stranger to back pain. Have had one back surgery and another on the way. It's one thing I took for granted as a kid. I've had this pinched nerve in my back for the last two weeks with no relief. Pain shoots into my butt and down my leg to my toes. My whole leg is numb. Surgeon wants to operate being its a herniated disc pushing up against my nerve. I know your pain and wish you luck.

I've had back problems since I was a kid. I've gone to chiropractors for just as long. I know a lot of folks don't believe in chiropractic care, but I for one do. The important thing is to find a good one. I've seen some quacks and I've seen some miracle workers. Unfortunately it's just hit or miss with them.

The single most important thing I've learned about back care is very simple. Water. Drink water. Lots of it. Not juice, not sodapop, not Gatorade or any of those other "sports drinks". Water, water, and more water. You're body absorbs water differently than any other liquid, quicker and more efficiently. When you become dehydrated the disks in your back, having a high water content, are one of the first things to suffer.

If you don't trust chiropractors, simply learning proper lift and carry methods and drinking plenty of water will do wonders to prevent back pain.

Sorry to hear about your back, Trey. My wife has problems with her back and a chiropractor in IL really helped her. But he's the only one she's been to the helped. It was expensive with 2-3 visits a week, but it did work.

Hope you can get some relief soon.
