LifeNRA
I was on my way to Cabela's after work. Driving down route 78 near Cabela's the highway necks down to one lane due to construction. Traffic came to a stop, I noticed this car was not slowing down in the lane behind me. I started to make toward the shoulder of the highway! All of a sudden this woman figured out the traffic was STOPPED! She hit the hooks and started to skid sideways towards me! Then turned the wheels the other way and skidded into the left lane! Both times almost flipping the vehicle! Finlay came to rest directly aside of me, aside the concrete medium strip! She looked at me and was shaking her head. Speed limit was 55, I knew she was going MUCH FASTER! I just had my hands in the air as to say, WHATS GOING ON!!!! She just sat there shaking her head! I figured she was ok and traffic continued, I left. Both of her front tire were at a severe angle, must have busted them. Somebody did get out and check her. I couldn't, I would have been screaming in her face for not paying attention! She had no injuries, just shock of the ordeal. Hopefully this made her more attentive from now on! An hour later as I drove by the west bound lane she was still sitting there with a State cop and a flatbed tow truck, on her cell phone! She either was on her phone or just wasn't paying attention! Plain stupidity if you ask me! I was so mad I could have chewed through steel! My nerves are still a wreck! I seriously thought my time was up! Because if she would have rolled her car, I was the next one in line! All I was thinking was my wife and daughter. Thank God she didn't hit nobody! Brad6639
I hear you on that one, there is as many bad drivers any more as there are good drivers. I work for the Wi Dmv and try to keep as many bad drivers off the road as possible, but it sure seems like it hasnt had any effect at all. Im glad you are ok, she was probly putting on lipstick, talking on a cell phone and eating a sandwich at the same time. I had something similar last week happen to me, I was driving down the beltline and a woman started to merge into the far right exit lane, and then at the last minute cuts over in front of me without checking her blindspot or anything. I seriously thought she was going to feel what a saturn ion felt like at 60 mph. I layed on the horn, and she gives me the bird when I went around her! Dont you just love it when they about kill themselves and possibly others, and then try to play it off as your fault?

M00N
I'm glad noone was hurt! I was in a similar situation, except it wasn't with a normal vehicle. They had the traffic stopped on the highway for construction and a big dump truck (that was not part of the construction site) came flying up behind us and didn't realize traffic was stopped. When he did it was too late and he didn't hit us because he went into someones front lawn on the side of the road and tore up their entire lawn. I was terrified and only maybe in 3rd grade at the time. My mother was angry as ever at the truck driver and shook up at the same time. The guy had the nerve to flick the bird out the window at us for stopping at the flagman's sign that said STOP. There were caution and flagman signs way long before us. He should have been paying attention! Wasn't our fault at all, but he acted like it was instead of being a man and just gesturing a sorry and learning how to drive better. Shaun_300
Oh man! Thank God she didn't hit you, that could have been REAL bad! Now that I'm in school driving back and forth into the city everyday I hit construction like that on the way home. Down to 1 lane dead stop due to merging and construction. Average flow of traffic is 80mph on that highway, and some people don't realize how long it takes to stop from 80, or just aren't paying attention. I just get off the freeway, take the backroads around all the congestion and get back on about 5 miles up the road. Not worth getting rear ended! buckee
I've only been in 2 fender benders in my life John, and both were getting hit in the rear end. Once by a drunk, and once by a guy on his cell-phone with his kid sitting beside him. Really good to hear your OK John. Sounds a bit too close for comfort. AdvantageTimberLou
Thank God your alright John. I had a lady yesterday get up behind me and was mad I was doing the speed limit. She thought I-75 apparently was Daytona Speedway and once I got over she must have been going 80 to 90 MPH after that. When she went by she looked my way and I started waving go, go go, faster faster and then a few choice words!! If that car she was driving lost control she would have been killed or killed someone innocent. Man did I every wish for a cop to be in the area. She was flat out flying and risking others lives!! Hate ignorant drivers!! Glad your story had a good outcome for you. Some people just don't pay attention. I am always watching my rear view mirror in construction zones for people not paying attention.
Guest Andrea
Yikes!!! Glad it turned out alright. When I see people come flying up behind me I start flashing my brakelights. I bet that woman needed a clean pair of pants after THAT!!!! I get road rage pretty easily. Your situation would have DEFINITELY set it off too!!! Tony
I was so mad I could have chewed through steel! now thats mad.. glad your ok and i can bet she was on a cell phone while driving. the cell phone, mans worst invention ever. whats worse is seeing people driving down the road and they have a cell phone in one hand and a smoke or drink in the other. holy crap whats steering the vehicle. Shoot Strong Tony
Swamphunter
I just had my hands in the air as to say, WHATS GOING ON!!!! wtnhunt
Good she did not hit anyone John. Hope she learned her lesson with this, unfortunately the streets are full of people who do not pay attention or are just plain inconsiderate of other drivers. wildside
So glad that you were okay! Amazing to read all of the similar stories that so many wrote about after your post. I remember one of the biggest things my drivers' education teacher taught us - always know what's behind you, especially when stopping! Good thing you were aware and acted to get out of the way (as best you could in the situation). Hopefully that woman learned a lesson - and was able to find herself a new pair of underpants! LifeNRA
Thanks all for the kind words! Although, I had some not so kind words for her. I would have loved to been there when the cop showed up! Hope she got a few tickets, and her insurance goes up too! LOL! Its weird, I seen it coming and for a moment thought well, this is it! Wonder how many points she has already? LMBO!!! At least my blood pressure is back down. Wish I had a cuff to check it right after it happened! I know it was through the roof too!
