wtnhunt Posted September 14, 2007 Report Share Posted September 14, 2007 Pretty good article there Dale, but I have to disagree about his idea on rattling only during the rut and not at all in the pre rut. Have actually had better responses here to rattling in the pre rut than during the rut when the bucks are locked on to does. Aggressive calling during the rut can work too, you just have to know what works where you are, dont be afraid to try different tactics, like the writer here says just dont overdo it. Calling is specific to the area you are in and what works where this hunter who wrote this is at might not be as productive elsewhere. I think his tip on calling intervals is pretty accurate though. Usually will call here during the time frame prior to the rut with three to four calls soft and short in a sequence 15-20 minutes apart.
