Swamphunter
I forgot to post that during the hunting season this year I was hunting some farmland and was down near the farmers back line and I saw something bouncing through the woods. I couldn't tell exactly what I was seeing until it got close enough and when it was at about 20 yards I could see it was a fisher! I have never seen one before in the woods. Beautiful pelt on it and it came to with-in about 8 yards of me and stopped and just looked at me. Not being that familiar with fishers and their tempermant, I just held real still and then it turned and bounced away. Cute little bugger...but good sized also! I never realized how big they were! Just thought it was neat.
NYBUCK
Re: Fisher sighting That is neat. I saw one also a couple years ago. Very exciting.

superguide
Re: Fisher sighting When I was 11 I caught a fisher in a coyote set-I whacked him with my lttle stick then went to get him out-I had to kneel on the springs to get trap open and he came to and got ahold of my pant leg-needless to say It got a bit exciting. I was big man in grade 6 for awhile after that lol.
puffy
Re: Fisher sighting There are plenty of those little critters as well as martins up here in Nothern Saskatchewan. They are real curious but wary. Glad that you got to see one and close too.
Swamphunter
Re: Fisher sighting Are they aggressive at all if you get near their den?? The thought had passed through my mind a couple times...
wtnhunt
Re: Fisher sighting Dont think they would be aggressive towards humans, but then again dont know. Dont have any around here. Think they can get up to like 14 pounds. My 8 year old daughter and I were reading just the other day about fishers and other weasels. Tominator
Re: Fisher sighting I've seen a few minks and weasels, but never a fisher. I don't even know if we have them in Ohio.

fisherguy
Re: Fisher sighting YUp, those things can get to be pretty big. THe thing i don't get is last year the guys here were averaging about $55 for a martin, and $60 for a fisher. A fisher is just an overgrown martin, but apparently the littel bit coarser fur makes them less desireable.
superguide
Re: Fisher sighting When I caught mine 31 years ago I got 120 bucks for it unskinned-I'll try and find my pictures.
SaskMan
Re: Fisher sighting Wow Cory, that was some good loot then. I may have to go after the one that keeps boogying across my road and into the pines!
RangerClay
Re: Fisher sighting Neat spot Swampy. I've hunted the North Country for 18 years now and I have yet to see one. I did have a mink come by me this year but he would not sit still for the camera. Ranger
