Kent Fasteel?

Re: Kent Fasteel?

It's good stuff, but I honestly can't say that I really noticed any difference between the various other brands I've shot.

One of my hunting partners had a bunch of Fasteel this year and his Super Black Eagle wouldn't cycle it. It could have just been a gun issue for him because other guys had no problem with it.

Obviously there are a range of factors from choke, shot size, range, etc, but in the end it comes down to how good a shot you are. If you can't shoot a shotgun with any consistency, no brand of ammunition will make you a better hunter.

When I'm carrying the 16 gauge Fast steel is all i carry, when the 12 is in hand it is either winchester drylock....or handloads of bismuth.

The key is in the above quote and the last line.

Re: Kent Fasteel?

I guess I'll be the dissenting vote, here...

My group tried it a couple of years ago, and really didn't like the way it performed. We're mainly goose hunters, with the occasional duck thrown in, and it just didn't 'knock' those birds.

We've all gone to Remington 'Nitro' steel or Hevi-shot. Personal opinion is that the 1 1/4 oz. high velocity 'Nitro' is hard to beat for a steel load.
