VermontHunter
As everyone may be aware I was and still am in the market for a new release so I went to the Pro Shop were I bought my New Alpine Bow and asked the owner if I could try out a few releases to see if I could find one that was comfortable for me and he said NO I had to buy it first. ( SHOCKED ) I muttered a few nasty words and left. Well this owner called my father and told him that his new arrow shaft were ready the other day and my father told him to keep them and that he and his shooting buddies would be doing there business elsewhere, needless to say they spend a fortune on equipment. The owner asked why so my father went into the story and the owner said well if I knew he was your son I would have done something different, well that didn't set well with my father either knowing how fragil a new person is to Archery and told the owner it shouldn't have mattered weather it was is son or not and that sort of business practrice is just acceptable to him and he would be doing business elsewhere unless he corrected this problem...tonite I recieve a call from this owner with an apology, and that if I came back in I could try some releases out and keep the one I liked FREE OF CHARGE and that he from now on will have 1 of each release that he carries for trying out purposes.... Question should I now accept the apology and the release or search for a new Pro Shop...

buckee
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner Accept the apology...always If you don't then you are in the wrong for not forgiving. I think that was pretty awesome of him to change his policy for you and any future customers...give him some credit where it is due.
NY911Bowhunter
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner Accept the apology, do not take the release for free. BUY it from him with cash. In the long run, it will be worth it.
popgun
Re: Regretful Pro shop Owner I can't tell you what you should do. That is your decision. I will tell you what I would do. I would accept his apology in the spirit in which it was offered, and I would also pay for the release. I think he has learned a very valuable lesson in customer relations. It sounds as though you are off to a much better relationship with your local pro shop, and I am glad to hear it has worked out for you and future customers. .....popgun

dogdoc
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner wow--how did this guy stay in business? I too would accept is apology and go try the releases and I would attempt to pay for it anyway--he might not take it and if he doesn't--say thanks, take the release and go home! That is a cheap lesson in customer relations in my opinion! Look at it this way---in the long run you might have saved his business--or maybe he was just having a crappy day! todd

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks guys I value your opinions thats why I asked and I like this one most definately....I am sure he saw his error in consumer sales and will be talking to him tommarrow...I definately will pay for the release, I just wanted him to understand that we all don't have the money to buy things that don't work for us...again thanks for your valuable opinions... James7xChamp3
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner I agree with accepting the apology and paying for the release. That will pay dividends. We all make mistakes and have to apologize now and then. Scenarios like this often end up with a good friendship being built. Good luck! JimPic
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner Personally,I would accept his apology and tell him I'm still taking my business elsewhere. The only reason he's obliging you is because he knows he's going to lose $$$ down the road.JMO
magnatecsteve
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner I would give him another chance. He knows that you all are going to tell others what happened and he will loose business...thats the only reason he is trying now. Go back, try out the release..take it for free and get out of dodge and never go back to him. Then he will really learn a lesson On second thought...No...you better go with what the other guys are saying Sorry, I can't tolarate people like that. VTbowman
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner I agree with JimPic on this one bro. I know this guy, well have been to his shopa few times, and its the worst one we got up here. He has the highest prices, by a lot too, and has crappy service. IMO he does not know enough to run or maintain a bow shop. Again JMO. He apologized ONLY because he feared loosing so much business, not because he realized the error of his ways.. The all mightly dollar spoke to him not his heart... I would not go back there and do business. As a matter of fact, I personally, would take the freeby release and still go elsewhere. Thats just me. I do not respond kindly to this sort of service or business pratice and even though he is trying to buy back your business I would still think he is not an upstanding owner. JMO but screw him... I hope your dad and his posse does the same...
archerjg
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner He only apologized because he thought he was going to lose business and he was afraid losing the money. I would give him a chance to see if he really has had a change of heart. Like a couple of others have said send in someone that has never been in there before and see how he treats them. puffy
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner Keep working with this fella and he'll come around to your way of thinking, Accept his apology and try out some releases. When you decide to buy one , let him know how important you, your friends, and your family feel that giving new archers a helping hand into the sport is nothing short of being a fellow archer. Let him know you appreciate his efforts.

rossman
Re: Regretful Proshop Owner Accept the apology and buy the release you want in cash. People make mistakes!!!! If you take the release fo free, you may look like you were trying to get it for free all along!!!! He needs to make money too. He made a mistake and is actually fixing it. Good for him!!!!! I ordered studs for my snowmobile from the place where I have bought my sleds all my life. I decided not to keep them, I wanted to try my sled out without them first. I put $100 dollars down on them. When I told him i did not want them anymore, he said, "fine but we charge a $100 re-stacking fee". I reminded him of the business i did with him and he insisted on keeping the $100. I told him I would never be back and will try to keep costumers from his place. I three years, he has lost the sale of 13 new snowmobiles of people I know and all accessories. Was it worth it for him to keep my $100. i don't think so!!!!! And the kicker is, he never apologized or tried to fix his mistake, and now he is paying for it. My point is, at least your guy is fixing it. Give him another chance but be respectful and buy the release!!!!
