RICK Posted October 21, 2007 Report Share Posted October 21, 2007 been bow hunting the same tree for the last week,every other day and have been seeing alot of deer. here is the problem i get in the tree and the deer start moving from their bedding area to the acorn flats to feed, perfect set up huh, but the deer walk by and are looking right at me, i cant move at all or they bolt!! im in an oak tree 25 ft up with good background and realtree head to toe!!! even tried putting my stand on the back side of the tree but get the same results:mad::mad:any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated:D:D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm betting they watch you walk in, and they definitely smell you if you're going to the same tree every night. I'd suggest you mix it up. Don't go to the same tree night after night just because you're seeing deer. Deer will definitely pattern you. Personally, I won't go to the same tree more than 2 or 3 nights in a row. I found out the hard way you have to give a stand a week or so before going back into it! This year I had a doe and her yearling walk past a new tree I was in. The yearling looked up at me but didn't think anything was wrong. As they got by, momma walked over to the tree I was sniffed the tree AND LOOKED STRAIGHT UP AT ME! Not a sound! No movement either! It was like she knew that smell, and knew to look up! But she only jumped away about 20 yards and resumed feeding. Thats when I killed my second tree limb! Got to agree with this. Might give that spot a break for a week, and might even try a different tree if possible when you do go back.
