Any Recurve shooters?...

I'm not completely giving up on hunting with my compound bow, but I am very interested in giving a more traditional bow a shot. I have shot several recurves and really like the feel of the Martin Howatt Hunter. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this particular bow, or have heard good/bad reviews on it. Thanks for any help you can give, as I am VERY green, just excited about a new challenge.

U pretty much answered your own question it really just matters what shoots good for you and that you have shot a few really shows you are off to a good start. If it shoots good for you I would stick with it ... you have to start someplace.

yeah traditional only shooter here. i currently am shooting a custom bighorn take down bow. But in the past i have shot the samick deerslayer which is now called the deer hunter. custom bows are very nice but are expensive too. if you dont mind dropping the money black widows are good bows and anything made by asenheimer as well.

I'm a traditional guy at heart too. I usualy hunt with my selfbows I have built. I have to admit this year I picked up my compound because I haven't had the time to practice. I have several recurves and longbows and of course my selfbows. My wife says I have to many... LOL I haven't bought any realy expensive bows yet. There are many lower priced bows that shot realy well with out going to a custom. Of course they are very nice as well.

Its addictive though. So simple yet very efective.

I mostly shoot recurves but I pick up one of my longbows and shoot them on occassion though.I never shot the Howatt Hunter but I've shot a buddy's Super Diablo and that bow shot very nice. It's pretty much finding a bow that fits you well and feels right for you to shoot well(along with much practice).I've settled on Black Widow's but still pick up used custom recurves and longbows from other bowyers, too. There's alot to choose from but you'll know what's right for you when you start shooting differant styles of bows
