Guest bowhuntr_15 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Share Posted January 3, 2008 I have been gettin 3 real nice bucks on camera the last 3 weeks and its not on our property...the guy just lets us hunt there. Its the same spot I killed my nice buck last year and they are in there every year...its just a big draw is what it is. And I was wondering if I could get some help on what to help the deer and maybe boost the bucks during the summer months to maybe help the antlers on the bucks for next year. He puts cows in there every now and then so I cant plant any food plots. But he said I could fence off a spot in the timber where my stand is for corn and such things. WHITETAIL DEER HOMEMADE MINERAL MIX RECIPE Ingredients: Makes 200 lbs. for about $23.00 1 part Di-calcium phosphate, this is a dairy feed additive bought at feed stores. Comes in 50lb Bags at around $11.00 you need one bag. 2 parts Trace mineral salt, the red and loos kind without the medications. Comes in 50lb Bags at around $5.00 you need two bags. 1 part Stock salt, ice cream salt. Comes in 50lb Bags at around $2.00 you need one bag. Directions: -Use a 3 pound or similar size coffee can to use as your measure for each part of the mix. -Mix all together well but not until read to use, keep ingredients separate until ready to put to use. -Dig or tear up a circle in the soil about 36 inches wide and about 6 inches deep. -Mix your mineral mixture with the soil. The Kid Posted January 4, 2008 Report Share Posted January 4, 2008 I don't know if they sell this by you but here in michigan they sell it its called lucky buck, been using it for about three years and can already tell the difference. its a mineral lick that you put out every three to four months, you first put it on like a stump/ or just put it on the ground, i prefer stump so it will last longer. within the first three months of putting it on the stump it gets tore up, i've had stumps that i can't get my arm around disapear like magic because they tear it up somuch, the stuffs not to pricy either 15.00 a bucket that last three months. i love the stuff!!!
