What Would You Do???

I have an older gentleman who has invited me to hunt with him all year this year. I have gone several times, with his permission, even when he is not home. He showed me a rifle that he had where the sling had broken. I went and bought him a nice leather rifle sling, sorta like the one he had and gave it to him. I have always lended him a hand with anything that he has needed done. I have always called him and thanked him for letting me hunt with him or went by and spent a little time with him, thanking him.

But my question is, I have been wanting to do a little something more for him for letting me hunt with him. What would you recommend a good thing? A gift certificate to one of his favorite resturants or something else? Please give me insight on what might be a good thing and might leave a good taste in his mouth.

Money is kind of tight around our house right now because of taxes. We are "self employed" so we have to pay quite a bit every year; but I do want to do something for him.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Scott

i think i need a drink....lol

The best gift you can give someone is your time.

Jeff

Yep, I agree with this.

In the past I've offered to help with chores or cleaning up the property. I will also give landowners about all the fresh produce they can handle in the summertime.

Another thing I do is send them a box of Cheryl cookies or some steaks from Omaha or this year, by request, I think I'll be sending one landowner Allen Brothers steaks.

Scott, just my 2 cents...I do things for my pastor, simply because I respect the man he is and the job he does for the community and God's kingdom. I never expect, nor would I ever accept anything in return for my service. I don't know if that's a great explanation, but it's possible that your friend is doing the same thing. He probably appreciates your time more than any gift you could give him.

I say be his friend and invite him over for a big dinner but also invite him over for small dinners or just to chat or whatever. Friendship is more valuable than anything you can buy him. Friends never feel like they deserve anything but always like they would give anything just for being a friend. Be as good a friend to him as he has been to you and that you can never repay.
