Michihunter
Can anyone tell me the good or bad about either of these two brands.... Kelvinator Bryant I'm an HVAC contractor so I can spoeak with some experience. Bryant is a VERY good reliable brand. Been around for many years. The parent company United Technologies owns Carrier as well. I rarely have any major troubles with Bryant systems. Kelvinator (which is actually Nordyne) gets a bad reputation due to some troubles it had with its heat exchangers some time back. They are not as popular and as such I don't see as many in the field. Of the two, I'd personally recommend the Bryant products. For one, they are very reputable and are very dependable pieces of equipment. Secondly, parts for the Bryants are easier to come by due to their popularity.
RangerClay
I have Bryant in my home. Great equipment!
Randy
Yep, Bryant or Carrier, same thing. It's about like GMC and Chevy. Sorry can't help you with the other one, I never heard of it.
Snipe
Isn't there a Trane rep close to you..??? Been in the industry 28 years now.. Not real fond of either brand you have mentioned.. I have had my share of problems with them.. If you were to pick the less of the two evils go with the Bryant..Cringe
Randy
I just talked with my Dad who has been in the business since 1966. He said "go with a reputable dealer as the service after the sale is just as or even more important than the brand." Hope this helps. Dawg
Personally, I'd try to find a Frigidaire or a Maytag dealer. Might pay a little more, but these are worth it. Nordyne also makes Frigidaire, but I don't think there are that many problems with that brand as the Kelvinator. Frigidaire, Gibson, and Maytag are very popular around this part of the country. craig mack
When I was shopping for mine, I got alot of quotes from different companys which carry different brands. All of them said you cant go wrong with Bryant, Carrier, or Lenox. So I would go with one of those 3. Good luck

Good thing about Trane is that almost any licensed contractor can do the repairs under warranty. Most are like that really. Lennox can be a pain at times cuz they have a whole different set up as far as getting parts. Definitely my favorite brand of all available is Trane. Unfortunately it wasn't one of the choices I was given by the OP.
