Was in the stand, about 5:00 a doe with two little ones came into the field. Very soon after that, a buck started chasing the smallest one, nose to the ground, pushing her hard. Before it was all said and done, 5 bucks had chased the same little doe till dark. First time I have ever seen rutting activity around here in January. Bet Todd is right though, sometimes the young ones will come in late, or who knows, she may have missed getting bred previously. We saw a buck try to mount a doe here in the spring a few years ago and thought that was really weird. A doe can and will continue to come into estrous up until she gets bred. I was with Ohiobucks that night, and actually started to worry like a little girl that night because I beat Tom back to the truck, which was a first.
