davetucker
Have you ever heard of such a thing??Your right somethin is wrong with america today's age!!When i was a kid no snow storm kept us home. Our pastor even touched on the subject every winter.I am penticostal and 30 yrs old and like i said it used to be a pet peave to cancel church if you missed cause of the weather then it was your choice but atleast you had the option. So what is everyone's opinion on canceling church? And has it always been your church's practice on a stormy day to cancel church?
preacherman
It depends on how bad that it is. Usually when Ice and Snow come to a state like ours, it is bad enough that the roads are too bad to travel on. If my people are going to be in danger by coming to service, then yes, we do cancel. It is not a quick or snap decision; but some serious time is used watching the weather and seeing how bad that it is. Rain and storms, we usually never cancel. Of course, we have never (knock on wood) had to made a decision about tornadic type weather.
ybronco
Church was never cancelled when I was a kid but they cancelled about two months ago. Granted we got hit pretty hard sure was alot of us there. I told my brother who is the Senior Pastor that I had driven all the way in and only one other couple lives further out than my wife and I and they were there also. I sure wouldn't want someone to get hurt trying to make it to church either.
davetucker
i understand the thought of the members and not wanting someone to get hurt.I believe though if it's your time it's your time and if it's meant to be it's meant to be!!So what i'm saying is god has a plan for your life and if an accident is in the plans you ain't gonna change it.In our area the church parsonage is usually right next to the church. So what my opinion is we should have the option to go to church if we fell we can get there!!It just so happened that last wk i was really needin the lord and his service. Not saying i can't pray or worship at home,it just ain't the same! People shouldnt risk their lives or body harm for service. God is a bit more than understanding on the situation.
TreeStandBowHunter
I have a question. What if there is a catagory 5 hurricane going on...would it be inappropriate to close the church then or would we expect people to get in their cars with their children and drive 5-10 miles (or more) with a good posibility of being injured or even killed:confused:. So when they die we say "Well, it was just their time to go"? People who are smart think safety no matter how religious they are...people who are dumb on the other hand would keep that church open during that catagory 5 hurricane. Me personally, I think the pastor of your church is smart;)
