Guest Andrea
My kids want a half pipe. Any of you ever build one? I need all the help I can get. This will hopefully keep them busy this summer. Also--------they will be building this. ( With supervision):)

Why don't you have them build some deer stands instead?
okiedog
I have built over a dozen that I can remember. From 4' tall mini ramps with hips and spines, up to 8' tall half pipes. I had alot of fun with them, but I use to love to build stuff with wood (still do:D). What size of ramp are ya'll considering building? I got a ton of pics stuck away somewhere in a box. davetucker
Alot of things our kids do in some way is dangerous and they could get hurt, espesially boys.Riding a bike and doin wheelies can give ya a broken arm,or leg.I love my kids to and would love to prevent every bump and bruise but how do you do that without letting them be boys.I suppose give em a x-box,or some barbies then they can turn into some little whimpy sissy.Sure building a tree stand would be kool(kids and adults fall from them and break they're arms and legs to,let them go hunting with a deadly weapon(hunting accidents young and old happen every yr). My point is kids are kids and like to live.We as parents can't and never will be able to prevent every bump and bruise. We could limit there activities then is that always good. The games for them machines aren't imho the best for kids(and what kid wants to play pac-man).My 11 yr old is all over the skateboarding scene and he loves it,nock on wood he hasn't got hurt to bad yet,if he does a broken arm can heal and it will make even more tuff.I guess if it were me i myself would check that website out above and see how i could do it safe and cost effective. Thats my .3 cents and i don't mean to offend anyone everyone raises they're kids different and has opinions. With whatever you do good luck and i hope they have fun!! I'd like for them to have something kinda small. Something they could still have fun on but not something really high. We are too busy with the new house and can't really afford to spend an extra $800 to $1000 on something for them to play on. As for the broken bones and getting hurt.....they're gonna push those limits anyway. I'd rather them ride their skateboards on something SOLID instead of the contraptions they try to rig themselves. I would much rather them be outside building ramps and skating than sitting in the house playing video games and fighting and eating us out of house and home. OJR
more parents need to be like you and i.To many kids are being lost to junk food and video games. Another reason I am working to get this Jr. Shooting Club off the ground so the kids will have something else to do and it will be competitive and fun for them!
