Randy
I am trying to build a new elevated box blind for gun deer season. I have a miter saw that needs 15amps. I have a 20amp breaker and all I have plugged in to that circuit is my saw and my stereo. I keep poping the breaker, do you think I need to turn the stereo down to a level where I can hear the saw running, or should I just plug the saw in to a different curcuit? :D:D

Seriously though, if the saw is popping the breaker you may have another issue Randy. Might pull the breaker and make sure it is ok and not corroded at all and make sure it is seated well on the lugs or bars when you put it back in. MUDRUNNER
Sounds like you might have a bad breaker. We've ran into that a few times over the years.I would just pop a new one in and see if that fixes it.
stevebeilgard
while i see this as only a joke, i'd check the power to your saw first. could be a bad cord or motor. next may be the breaker. a 20 amp breaker should hold the saw & the radio. jm23494
From what the electrical designers in my office have taught me, (I do mechanical design) a breaker is sized at 1.25 times the amp draw on the motor plate to allow for the increased amp draw for startup. So for just running the chop saw you should be ok with that breaker. When you throw the stereo into the mix it may be pushing it. If I was to venture a guess I would say that you are tripping the breaker when you try to start the saw?
punkinslinger
Is it plugged into a GFCI???
Randy
If I was to venture a guess I would say that you are tripping the breaker when you try to start the saw?Yep, just when I start the saw. Oddly I've been using it all day today, without a problem. I don't understand it, I have a brand new 100amp service in the garage, and the tunes are cranked! It tripped three times yesterday. I think it's fixed!! :D
