NYBowhunter71
I went out this weekend to pattern my shotgun for the upcoming turkey season and got some interesting results. I am shooting Benelli Super Nova with the Truglo Gobble stopper Turkey choke and using Winchester Extended range shells 12G 2oz #5 (I think it was the Hevi-shot). First shot at 20yds had very tight pattern just left of aiming point 2nd shot had a much more spread out pattern. then moved to 30 yds 1st shot had decent spread pattern 2nd had wider spread With all the factors being equal, Why wasn't I getting the same pattern with each shot? Turkeygirl
Well the farther out you move, your shot is naturally going to spread out more. What you want to look at is how many pellet holes are you getting in your target, say a turkey target. Did you clean your barrel? Those turkey shells can dirty the barrels pretty well. Are you flinching or not squeezing the trigger? Maybe on the second shot the center of your pattern is elsewhere if you're doing either... It could be your choke though or the shells you are using...may want to try something different...
Guest Outcast
it could have been the shell, try different brands of shells, different shot sizes, and different chokes. Then take the combination that best suits your needs.
preacherman
all I can say is "Good Luck" I have a Benelli Super Black Eagle II and have yet to find a choke tube/shell combo to work with it. I have shot every choke tube that the local hunting store has in stock and couldn't get anything to pattern. Even had other guys shoot the gun to make sure that it wasn't me. Finally pulled the old trusty 870 out of the cabinet and am hunting with it.
