huntinguide
Well it was dead calm and 33 degrees this morning, first real nice morning of the season. I get dressed and as im throwing my clothes on they are already waiting on me, calling my name. They are right where i thought they would be, a huge pecan in the middle of a creek bottom. I slip right in the middle of them and wait, and he is blowing me up. That dang bird must had gobbled 100 times with every noise in the woods everyh once and a while the 2 jakes with him would chime in. Finally the jakes flew behind me in a little field, and he soon followed but he hit the ground in front of me. This was pefect he would have to walk through me to get to the jakes. As he is strutting and walking right at me he dives behind some limbs from the ice storm. He pops up and disapears now he is at 35 or so, as im waiting for him to pop out from behind another limb he suprises me at 15. I dont know what he saw but before i knew it he was runnin away, as i got the cross hairs on him and sqweezed the trigger my pattern smokes a huge pecan. He was running so fast i didnt have time to see what was ahead of him. And the bird leaves unharmed, the whole time the hens are still in the tree and they start to fly. This is a real bummer because the birds are so messed up right now because of the storms and all the debris on the ground from the ice storm. Oh well its still early in the season........
