Canuck2
Shivering sheepdip! That is a great buck. Let's have a blow-by-blow description of the hunt; you must have been walking 10 feet off the ground when you went to collect him. Oh ya, and tag picture! Get you, the deer, and the tag put into the entry thread. Team 13 rules! Nice going, red.

redryder
Good Hunt Got on my stand about 6:00 am. Got all my hunting stuff ready for a long stay. It wasn't very cold or windie. Settled back and listened to all the early morning sounds, dogs barking , owls hooting and people heading to work. About 7:15 I saw a deer coming in from my left side at about 50 yards. Watched him as he moved closer and figured he was 8 points or better. He kept moving to the right and getting closer. At about 20 yards I had a clear shot and took it. I hit the deer rite in the boiler maker. It went about 50 feet and was down. Got my sled, loaded him up ,went home for some pictures and took him to my butcher. It was a pretty good morning hunt! I want to take some better pictures of the rack before I enter it.
AdvantageTimberLou
Way to go redryder! Awesome buck! I got one myself but with half the points! I got a 6 pointer here in Michigan on Saturday the opener for our gun season. Will post a picture and story in a day or so. Buddy took the pictures and has to email them to me. Still have one tag left and hope to score on possibly a bigger buck with my bow still! Texan_Til_I_Die
Guys and gals, this is fantastic. We should be right in the middle of the chase for first place. Let's keep it up. For those who still have tags left, well.... go kill a big one!

Snipe
Great looking deer for sure... I went out last weekend and shot a 8pt. Not one of my better shots I will say.. That wind was killer and moving the stand... I tracked a very small blood trail Saturday night for 2.5 hours...Then it just stopped.. Went back in the morning and looked for 3 more hours... Can not find him... I have been sick about this since Sunday.. I must have hit him in the lower chest or leg.. I have a few things to do this weekend, So I will be back Thanksgiving Weekend.. Texan_Til_I_Die
Too bad about losing that one Snipe. I know what you mean by the wind blowing the stand around. I've got a couple of TALL tripods that I use and believe me, when the wind blows, they really get to swaying. Are you hunting far enough south to still have some rut left? It's just about all over with where I'm hunting up north of Sweetwater.
Snipe
Im six miles outside of Gatesville close to King, and I have not seen one buck chasing yet.. The ones I have seen are by themselves, no does around.

AdvantageTimberLou
I will post a picture of my buck when my buddy sends it to me. He's slacking! LOL!! Its a 6 pointer so 6 points & 5 for being a buck gives the team an extra 11 points! Our team is doing awesome! Congrats to all the lucky hunters and best of luck to the ones still out hunting. Go Big Buck crew!:D That is great, that will add 17 total points to the team is my math is right. 12 points on the deer and 5 for being a buck! Way to go redryder! Canuck2
Wow, are we good, or what! I make it 83 points for our team currently, once the score card becomes current. Don't know how other teams have been adding on lately, but I don't think any could be much better. Nice going crew. To those of you who haven't got one yet, keep on hunting and good luck. AdvantageTimberLou
Here is my buck, he is a Michigan 6 pointer. Not the biggest, not the stud of the deer woods but a great buck in my book. Took him opening morning, November 15th at 7:55 am. He snuck up behind my treestand at 10 yards. About 10 minutes earlier I was playing with my Primos Can call and let out about 3 estrous bleats. After I was done doing that I was fumbling with my radio trying to turn it down as my hunting buddies were chatting on it like a couple of old hens! As I turned the volume down a touch I heard the leaves rustling behind me. I just assumed it was a black squirrel as I had several around me. As I looked back to see what the noise was, the buck looked right at me. We locked eyes for about 30 seconds before he turned around, raised the white flag and ran I wanted to take him with my bow as I had both my Mathews and Winchester with me. I got him to stop by grunting with my mouth but he stopped around 40-50 yards out. A little farther than I wanted with my bow and his vitals were exposed but limbs were in the way and I didn’t want to take a chance of my arrow deflecting. So I grabbed my Winchester Model 94, 30-30 and put the crosshairs on just a touch behind his front shoulder and pulled the trigger. He went about 30 yards after I connected. Got him in the lungs and heart. Not a lot of blood on the ground but after trailing the blood for 10 yards I looked ahead on the trail and seen him laying. Been awhile since I got a buck with my gun and it’s a great feeling to finally score! So with 6 scoreable antler points and we get 5 points for a deer, that is a 11 points for the team. I will submit my score in the entry thread. Our team is doing a great job and I am still hunting till Jan. 2nd so I may be able to improve on this as I really want to score on a deer with my Mathews this year. Texan_Til_I_Die
All Right! ATL scores!!! Great looking deer. He'll look even better on the table. I'm anxious to see the updated scoreboard next week. We should be right at the top. I've still got 2 buck tags left (one for each of the 2 remaining counties I hunt in), so I might be able to improve. I plan to relentlessly hunt that 16 pointer my friend watched last Friday while he was hog hunting. The odds aren't too good that a buck like that will show back up during legal shooting hours, but I'll at least be in the right area if he does. Canuck2
Nice looking buck, ATL, and nice looking Model 94. Good luck with the Mathews, too. This is the result of my son's weekend visit here. He tried with his bow Saturday and we had lots of does in close; they're not open. So today he elected to use the rifle and we found this guy at first light tending a doe. 170 lb without innards.
AdvantageTimberLou
Thanks Canuck, the Model 94 is a great gun that is perfect for my deer woods. Congratulations to your bow on a great looking buck! Nice dark horns!

Canuck2
Does anyone know how to contact Parkergirl? Most all our other team members check in at least once in awhile but I believe she did just the once, to acknowledge that she was in. I've PM'd her but haven't got a response yet, and some of her posts on other threads seem to indicate she's getting some hunting in. -- Parkergirl, we'd love to see you. Texan_Til_I_Die
Hey Snipe, you better get up here. Lot's of chasing going on right now. Saw a big buck just outside of town yesterday afternoon at 2:30 getting after a doe.
