coles Posted January 24, 2005 Report Share Posted January 24, 2005 this after noon i finally had time to go our coyote hunting seriously for the first time. i have hunted them before but just driving around looking for them. but i bought me a call (primos ki-yi) and have been practicing. so i took my little brother and his friend. they are both 9. i think that was my first mistake. even though i had a blast wtih them i think they are the reason i didnt get my yote. the first place i called was by the river and we were sitting in an old calf feeder. no luck there. they got bored and wanted to shoot their .22s so i let them plink away. the second place we went was on a big hill over looking some badlands. i started calling and after about 5 mins i was looking around when i saw what looked like a fence post but it was in an odd spot. i took my eyes off of it to get the binos and when i looked up again it was gone. i saw the yote run into a run off ditch and didnt see it again. about 10 mins later i looked out and saw it about 500 yards away. i thought what the heck i would educate him anyways and it would keep the boys from getting bored so i put the crosshairs of my colt competition match AR-15 about a half a foot over his back and blasted away. im going back anychance i get now and hopefully next time ill get him in a little closer. good luck, cole Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

[/ QUOTE ] That go's to show you how well they blend in, and how well they can pick out the smallest amount of movement. Once you reach your calling stand, look over the area really well, that way you can detect anything different and pick it out. Good luck.
