Invincible Turkey

I had a turkey sittin on a log at 32 yds, dead to rights. She was facing away from me. I pulled back on her and took aim with my 3 blade Muzzy. I put the pin right in the middle of her back and let it fly. I heard a thwack and my friend that was with me said I hit her square, but the arrow took a little dive off her back. The turkey flew for about 10 yds, then scampered over a ridge. When we went to check out the site of impact, there were feathers cut up everywhere and one tiny drop of blood on one of em. Arrow was clean, no blood anywhere, and NO TURKEY!!

I'm not big into turkey hunting, so I don't know much about taking them with a bow. Did I do something wrong? Is there a broadhead out there that might be suited best for taggin a bird?

I believe a turkey's vitals are a little lower than most think, they are actually down around the rump. Sounds like you just grazed her.

They do make a few special heads for turkeys. One that comes to mind is the guillotine.

I might have to check that out. I'm 0-4 shootin at turkeys now!! I hit them every time, I just get feathers. This one sounded like I smacked her though...Thanks for the recommendation

I'll be honest with you...if 3-blade Muzzy's broadheads can go through a Brown Bear...they can kill a Turkey;)

Cant go wrong if you have the chance to use a rangefinder when Turkey hunting. Not when the birds there but before...range the area around you and memorize the landmarks(twigs,branches, bushes, etc.) for each pin thats on your Bow. Then your Dead-On and just wait until they cross one of your shot/pin distances.

I've always tried to "PinWheel" the wing in the center between the attachment point and the tip;)
