On the land I just purchased in Alabama. I would like to map out the area. I don't need the (map) feature. I just need to establish a map with the GPS! understand? Thanks Jim though for your help.

If you don't want mapping capability, look for the Garmin etrex (yellow plain jane model). Bass Pro had them on sale awhile back for $70. But if you've never used them before and start with the plain jane, you might get hooked and then want the mapping capability. I use the etrex Vista, but the Legend is a good model too. Less bells and whistles, still map capable, and can be found for around for $150.

You dont want a map but you want to map the land out??? confused.gif

Get the Vista and the MapSource CD's. You will be very glad you did!!! I AM!!!!!!! Now when I go hunting, I can do the scouting right here on the PC before I even get to this new place! Then once I get there I feel like I know where I need to go! I just wish I would have bought one sooner!!!
