JimT
Depends on what you need it for. If you do not need maps the $100.00 Etrax at WalMart is the ticket. Thats what I use and it is great.

I bought my GPS at Wal-mart.com for $218, Cabela's and Bass Pro wanted $269.

dg
Re: GPS reccommendations? [ QUOTE ] On the land I just purchased in Alabama. I would like to map out the area. I don't need the (map) feature. I just need to establish a map with the GPS! understand? Thanks Jim though for your help. [/ QUOTE ] If you don't want mapping capability, look for the Garmin etrex (yellow plain jane model). Bass Pro had them on sale awhile back for $70. But if you've never used them before and start with the plain jane, you might get hooked and then want the mapping capability. I use the etrex Vista, but the Legend is a good model too. Less bells and whistles, still map capable, and can be found for around for $150.

You will be very glad you did!!! I AM!!!!!!! Now when I go hunting, I can do the scouting right here on the PC before I even get to this new place! Then once I get there I feel like I know where I need to go! I just wish I would have bought one sooner!!!
